I’m so happy to bring you part 2 of sewing this Chanel-inspired, absolutely charming Chantelle dress featuring an elegant A-line dress, with adorable short sleeves & the most perfect square neckline.
I’m using my Chantelle PDF downloadable sewing pattern, get it here:
dressmakingamo...
(Watch the first part of the tutorial here: • DIY Chanel-Inspired Mi... )
Here are the materials you’ll need:
- 1.7-2.15 m (1.85-2.35 yds) light-medium weight woven fabric
- 1.7-2.15 m (1.85-2.35 yds) lining fabric
- 0.5 m (0.6 yds) interfacing for a partially interfaced dress, or 1.7-2.15 m (1.85-2.35 yds) for a fully interfaced dress
- Invisible zipper 56-60 cm (22”-24”) long
- Zipper machine foot for invisible zipper
- matching thread
- glasshead pins
- scissors
- measurement tape
- Chantelle pattern
I recommend using a woven medium-weight fabric that holds its shape and doesn’t stretch, and isn’t see-through. This is something like a suiting fabric, chenille twee, boucle tweed, and poplin. For the lining, use something like a viscose or a poly fabric.

Even though I know close to nothing about sewing I still watched your two videos on this dress and found it very entertaining and informative! Gorgeous clothes can truly be a middle ground for many people lol. Want to start learning sewing thanks to your tutorials so thank you!

OOF! The absolute beauty. Simple but elegant. Hey, I have a few technical questions if you don't mind: - How long did it take to make that dress? - How do I make sure I get this "triangular" shape? I know that the patron has this shape, but should I make sure to use a rigid material, or any would do? - Is the second layer only for comfort? - Could you give the price of all the materials? I think it could be interesting for the viewers who would want to stick to a budget. Thank you for this incredible channel! (For the record, I don't sow, I'm just a tourist for now xD! But I am curious about it now!)

This is my favorite source for sewing patterns!!! I love how elegant your pieces are!!! Is there a video that shows how to make this dress hem longer? I think it would make a beautiful church dress, I just need to add about 8inches (reserving 2in for the hem). I’m a beginner so I don’t know how to modify patterns, but I know it’s possible. 🙂 Thank You!

Hey, you can simply extend the vertical seam lines of each panel piece by how much you want it elongated. You should have a wider hem circumference the longer you go. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Your work is so clean, my sewing skills are trash compared to yours… and lining is just one of the things I don’t like to do

Hey! Just wanted to lyk that her shop is having a sale rn and this pattern is now only going for $8. Though I'm not sure for how long the sale will go on. You can find the link of the sewing pattern where the sale is ongoing in the description of this video and her part 1 video as well.

If you wanted to leave off the sleeves how would you suggest finishing the arm holes?
@yanascribbles7573
@yanascribbles7573 16 дней назад
potentially you could use bias tape to finish it off it would be really clean and nice but you’d have to use a thinner fabric such as a cotton or poly cotton blend as i don’t think it’s that easy to do with a thicker fabric ❤

While this sewing pattern is rated a 4/5 for complexity, I have lots of sewing patterns (and tutorials) that I recommend for beginners :) For example, the Ophelia dress (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FdHMN7Vp14Y.html) the Brandy pants (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iT-Sd_uoCmQ.html) and the Ruby dress (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hOBoxM-xTZ4.html) I hope this helps 🥰

I have to agree with you. I'm a beginner and I purchased this pattern about a month ago. I'm not doing the dress with a lining, so I've run into a problem with how to attach the front and back neck facings and neither the pdf instructions nor the tutorial address how to do that. As a result, I'm staring at partially completed dress.

I am a total beginner (sewn one shirt in my life) and to me this video is perfectly understandable. I’m halfway to finishing this dress, but also due to the thick material, not doing the lining. The neck and back pieces are attached just like the lining or just top stitched under the main fabric seam allowance I guess (I’m going to top stitch it on the edge so that it’s flatter or just cut it to fit and top stitch it flat under main fabric seam allowance, the fabric hides thread anyway. I will decide later on😜). Sometimes you just have to take a look in your closet and notice the details of your clothes to understand.
@TaDarling1
@TaDarling1 7 месяцев назад
@@magdak8491If you look at the back neck facing pattern piece, it says to cut 2 but when I look at clothes in my closet, only one back neck facing piece is required. When you pay money for a pdf pattern, you expect the instructions to be clear and when the designer sends a thank you email to everyone who buys their pdf pattern and instructs them to email her with any questions or problems, you would expect to be able to get some type of a response providing assistance and/or clarity so that you don't have to guess or look at the clothes in your closet to figure it out.
@magdak8491
@magdak8491 6 месяцев назад
@@TaDarling1 yes, it would be useful to have the instructions🙂 did you write an email and got some response? The back piece is needed to be cut twice, symmetrical because of the zipper that’s in the middle
