Nice update! Currently building a table myself and I'm mostly looking at your and Stefan Cymbaluk's design

What would you add to your CNC machine?
@paris466
@paris466 5 лет назад
Honestly? Nothing. When I built mine, I patterned it mostly after your design (with a few minor adjustments and additions, like THC right from the get-go). It's been running great all this time and I'm making some pretty decent money with it (hobby money, but still money). I sell on Etsy, plus what friends and family want made. Keeps me busy. I would like to have a bigger one, but I know if I had a 4x4, I'd want a 4x8. Then I'd want a 5x10. Then I'd want a laser and so on... For the space I have, I'm happy with it being just over 2x4. Does what I need so far. Anybody looking to build their own should really watch your videos on the subject. Lots of great information.

Very nice setup! So clean and sanitary It's a work of art. A question, though... A lot of guys have problems with the EMI from the torch messing with the stepper counts or even resetting and stopping their controller. How are you preventing those problems? Any special shielding or grounding?
@MakingStuff

I use shielded cable and have had no issues.

Would you be able to tell me what size screws the power supply uses, and what size screws/tap you used for everything else? Trying to order some last minuet stuff before I get my electronics! This video was super helpful for building a very nice/budget friendly enclosure.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 4 года назад
They are metric. Probably M3 or M4 not sure and I don't have a way to easily pull the power supply from the enclosure. Thanks for watching!

I don't understand the electrical structure very well, I understand about motors, sources etc... it's just that some electronic assembly videos, I see a lot of electrical components like circuit breaker, counter etc... I don't know exactly how to turn it on and why there are these items, but not your very simple and direct link which I think is cool, can you tell why this difference?

Does the linux cnc 2.8 not need parallel printer port? ethernet or USB?

It will work with any of them. The 7i96 is ethernet and there is a new config tool for LinuxCNC made just for it.

Some people use 4 power supply. I do not understand why they use 4 supply. Is it because they use nema 34?

You are running a fair amount of power inside a sealed (mostly) box..... not good. I would put 2 holes in the bottom, maybe staggered one towards front opening and one towards the back. Put a fan on one of them sucking air in, and the other hole for exhaust. Preferably the intake air would pass over the front of the entire assembly, and then run along and over the top, and down the backside of the aluminum panel and out the bottom hole. Also, you've got a metal CNC, and you could have made a perfectly fine one with a sheet metal brake as you showed in one of your earlier videos..... Could have really tuned the intake and exhaust, and added a rubber grommet for water proofing. Otherwise, nice multidisciplinary project.

@ipadize
@ipadize 5 лет назад
@@SomeTechGuy666 i would go with at least closed loop stepper motors to ensure no lost steps. or fully closed loop DC motors with glass scales on each axis combined with Linuxcnc
@SomeTechGuy666
@SomeTechGuy666 5 лет назад
@@ipadize I agree. Can you point me to a build that actually does this ? Where do you get a quadrature encoder input for LinuxCNC ?
@ipadize
@ipadize 5 лет назад
@@SomeTechGuy666 for Hardware i can fully recommend Mesa hardware. You can put a card directly into the PCI/PCIe port of your computer or Connect a Motion control card to your computer via Ethernet (realtime). You have practically unlimited expansion capabilities. It may be expensive but totally worth the price. have a look at the 7i76e. Also have a look at "Talla83" and "Sebastian End" on youtube, maybe you can get further information from there. I, for my part, want to build a Industrial-like 5 axis CNC with automatic toolchanger, 3d Touch probe and so on but i am a little stuck timewise.
@snowgoer540
@snowgoer540 5 лет назад
It's a home made CNC plasma cutter. Not a DMG MORI. No need for glass scales, etc.
