You say that there is a complete parts list but all you have are you affiliate links. You dont have a list of dimensions, lengths, etc. I would like to attempt you build at my shop and would happily use your affiliate links if I could get a more complete parts list with specific lengths and dimensions that you are using in the video. I would love to see more videos of this router in action. Keep it up.

Dude! Great little machine! I see a lot of CNC builds on RU-vid that are scrappy, not thought through, or just not polished. Yours is none of that. Great machine, great video. Subbed!

Having reviewed a lot of professional and DIY CNC router designs over the past 3 years, I find this one to be excelent! It cleverly keeps the amount of parts low and the manufacturing and assembly quite easy. This is probably the best wooden CNC router for the buck. I watched this nice video several times as an inspiration for my own designs.

In my opinion using linear rails and ball screws doesn't make sense with a thin plywood frame

Well, I just bought the plans for 6.00$ but these aren't quite plans... you don't show the dimensions for the majority of the the drilled holes. Either positioning or diameter, depth, etc.. You do not specify the bolts used, which is quite important. Specially the ones that connect the rails to the solid timber elements. Because those cannot be countersunk, given that the rail is bored. Nevertheless, take my 6$ as some king of patronage. But I can't help feeling a bit "scammed". Excellent work nonetheless! As far as the reinforcement for the Y axis movements on the Z body, the problem is well identified. There is a long distance between the attack region of the makita's tool and the lowest position of the lower Z bearing, causing the plywood board to flex. Provided that that the modded stock harness does not flex, you can maybe drill 2 metallic plates with the width of the plywood's thickness and drill them to the sides creating inertia (in case one of the sides of an angle profile does not fit either the back or the front , I think not you will have to work solely on the side). I would cut a strip with the length equal to the total height of part 11 - Router Mounting plate, in order for the span between the cutting area and the lowest bearing to get some stiffness from the upper lower spans created by the bearings and the nut housing. Along X the stiffness is much much bigger given the C Shaped traverse and the 5 very sturdy screws connecting them to the gantry sides. In this case, the span to consider is the distance of the X ball bearing's axis and the linear rail along Y. In this case, the correction would be to stiffen the gantry sides with thicker boards, as long as the connection of the gantry to the traverse is completely fix, not allowing the angle to go above or beyond the 90 degrees! Congrats on your machine Roman!

You inspired me. I'm in the process of building it right now. I upsized it a little. The size is 1100mm (X), 1120mm (Y), and 500mm (Z). The kit included the 20mm guide rails and the HGH20CA glides including 2 Y-axis ball screws and rails. I also upsized the motors to 1.9nm (269oz in). I do have the Makita router in your video but I upsized that to the Bosch 1617 2.25 hp. My only concern is whether the 1.9nm motor for the Z-axis can lift the 6lb Bosch router without stalling. I also will be installing an emergency 'OFF' pushbutton and I will be mounting the Ardiuno USB connector on the front, not the rear. I have all the parts cut out and have started assembly. Wish me luck.

Those couplers you used break very easily. The types with urethane inserts work much better.

I really like your elegant design. Would prefer oak for accuracy though, instead of beech. Beech might be a pleasure to work with and finish, but even quartersawn it just begs to warp like a rainbow under the first hint of humidity stress it encounters.

@BooTec @10:25 the linear rails are mounted to the side to which the gantry is connected. Isn't that putting too much weight on the rails and the screw? Instead, shouldn't the rails have been mounted on the top face of the wood?

hi! awesome machine! i was wondering if you would do the same for a large cnc... actually i need a working space for X axis around 2000mm, and I think it's not really recommended to use the screw to move along the axis.. is it better to use the belt system? Would you change something apart from this on your design? i appreciate the tips. thank you

An elegant design, beautifully realised. I'm looking forward to more videos! The only concern I have is whether or not the gantry provides enough rigidity in the x direction? Still, even if it doesn't, I doubt there would be much difficulty in designing and adding a couple of pieces of plywood to cross-brace the gantry sides the same as you have done elsewhere. i has build my cnc 1500mm x 1500mm x 400mm SBR rails, and cnc minimum motors have need be 4,5A max nema 23 ebay cost 4 motors 60$ 3x36 volt power, 6 limit switch and minimum need be 500W spindle. all what you can made wood you can made aluminium better same tools. table i welding metal tube. cost less 500$ whit ball screws. paraller port controller 10$ and 5Ampere motor drivers 20$/axis. i test first mach 3, but windows OS not cood cnc not realtime and problem lot interrupt, windows have shit, linux cnc software have lot lot better use no interrupt problems and working stabile alltime. i has build this elektronic many cnc old bridgeport mill new cnc and many factory about 24 cnc and plasma table.

awesome CNC! I like the idea to do as much as possible out of wooden materials. Sadly the parts list above seems not to be complete (some parts missing, some others Need dimensions) and plans would help a lot! I like it when they make this videos DIY to make wherever to save money and they use 30k Worth equipment to build a $500 machine that you supposed have on your home just laying around 🤣🤣🤣

wery small motors you use, long have better have more torgue. minimum motors have cnc mill 4-5Ampere, no matter how much volt use 24-90 volt. normal DIY home cnc 36 volt best 80-90 volt. motor select have important only max ampere, and max torgue. drivers need be same than motors ampere or more.

I have imported chaina machine it is come with 3 axis with DSP controller. Can u please suggest any material or video to upgrade my normal cnc machine to auto tool change machine... I have to do it my self..... Please... Thank you..

Here's a good place for parts, and where I will be ordering. www.zyltech.com/ball-screws/ Stepper motor were the cheapest on Amazon. 4 for $25. Openbuilds for controller, wires, drag chain, etc. All U.S. sources. Amazon had some nice router mounts as well. 65mm for Makita.

Bro do u have a full length video for all this work. I have 2 full size 8X4 foot sheets of nice Plywood but I also wanted to use belts and pulleys on my build. I saw a great deal for 1000mm linear bearings and the ball screw on another website today. Don't know if I'm allowed to say the name or what so I won't but it was a great deal tbf. I think I'm going to do what u have done here and use Plywood to build out my machine. I need to spend a fair bit of time on the electronics but I watched part of part 2 and it loks or u made it look far more easy than I expected so I will be watching it very closely bro.. Did you get a loose wagon on a linear guide, sideway play? Or are you usind SKF, Rexroth or equivalent hardware? I got mine from Banggood 1 of 3 guides wagon kits were crap, just usless piece of garbage. Banggood doesen't care for customers, no respond from Banggood! I got banged good by Banggood.

Would there be a huge difference between the makita RT0700C (710W) and the one you have in the part list of the description (500W). I am thinking of building such a machine for some time now, already did some successful Arduino projects so I now start to search for a suitable Design/Inspiration for one... (Should be able to cut/carve styrodur foam, wood aluminium and if this is somehow realistic steel (but steel is likely not possible with such a machine or would take way to long)...

HI if I had to think of an ultra low cost version, the engines could be nema17..... The Y axis already has two engines and the effort is already divided by two, so two nema17 are sufficient. the head (z-axis) does not make much effort, and the only one is the x-axis which should be nema23. do you agree?

Everything is beuatifully done, beefy and strong. Except... the four small screws holding the aluminum router bracket. Any sideways or pulling forces will go through those screws..

What was the rationale for using two motors for Y axis? Was this done for additional torque? Same movement can be achieved with one Nema 23, right?

Why only 1 linear rail on Y axis, and 2 everywhere else? I really like it and have purchased the plans. May modify a few things, but overall a great design.

I started the assembly today, its going well. The pieces are fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. Without having the dimensions of Roman's machine, I had to estimate and I estimated correctly. I tried to post a picture to this thread but that didn't work. Does any body know where I can post a picture that can be seen by the public?

Very nice design. Never use tree. Tree is alive and changes according to the humidity and other effects. Change the plates with al or steel then you will have an accurate system.
