This is an amazing build. There is one problem it seems that people keep making (probably to save money) on the y axis. By putting the slides on the mount and the rollers on the table, the force changes on the y axis as the part moves in the y direction. If the Rollers where mounted on the mount and the slide table contained the rails, the milling force would always be centered between the 4 y rollers. The same could be said for the x rollers and slides as well.
@@TinkeringNerd It is less about saving, and more about keeping the center of force centered over 4 points. If the part is really long, the edges are unsupported, because the bearings will be off to one side. Even a small part changes the force applied, as the bearing move to one side or the other. If the x-axis bearings are always fixed at 4 points equally spaced below the cutting head, I would think the the cutting accuracy, and the force that can be applied, would be increased.
@@auroraRealms pretty much all cnc mills use the rails carriages attached to the table design. You wouldn't machine anything that hangs over the table on this type of machine. It is more stable over the table at the cost of limiting travel, as opposed to a bridgeport style manual mill where the entire table can move across the entire range of motion, but gets cantilevered out at the edge of travel
My dear you have done a good job so far ,but you will be losing steppes in future because the Z axes does not have balancer , it needs the vertical wight of Z to be balanced , You can use difrencial wight by chain in back or use penumatiuqe system , good luck (this is only my sugestion )
You did heat trat and stress relieve it after welding before machining huh ? Only you didn't show that and if you didn't..well good luck ever produceing accurate parts with the twisted pretzel it will soon become.
@@mihailfelixdumitresc Indeed I have no way to do this at home. I was thinking to "work" the welds while they are still hot, that will remove some of the stress. Also heat it with a torch section by section. In the end for what I'm trying to do I think some of the stresses will be blocked. My design is made of steel square tubes 4" X 4" welded together in a frame with the shape of an H. The tubes will be filled it with epoxy concrete. I think that would block some of the later movement... will see
Friend , nice work , but i dont get it , u do a good rigid machine , and cut aluminum 1 mm doc , and a bad toolpath , with stops on a circle , and u use mach 3 wich is oudated , and doesnt foloow soo good the trejectory path at high feed . I would change the mach 3 to something more new , like uccnc or linux cnc , more better than mach 3 .
This thing is so underbuilt for it's size it's scary. It's going to ring like a bell for anything more than a light finish cut, and even that's going to be problematic... And the cuts the machine is making in this video are all extremely light finish cuts.....
