Oh wow, you just made my whole year! I never know where this channel is going to go, and I can't believe that my videos are helping you and all of those ladies, even if in a small way to provide skills or entertainment! You are doing absolutely incredible and important work - sending lots of love and great thoughts to you and all the strong ladies!! I absolutely love hearing these stories and what I do is nothing compared to the strength of all those women! ❤😀
This is my first tutorial that I'm watching from you, may I just say thank you for your nice calm tone voice and that you're not rushing through the project. I say this because I am a beginner in a lot of different crafting projects. I am going to subscribe I already hit the like button and left a comment and I would like to say I look forward to going through your tutorials and seeing what I can learn or maybe enhance my project a little better because again I am a beginner and I'm proud to say that. I do have a question and you possibly already have done something like this but I love chalk paint and I've been using cornstarch and it works really well for me as it's just a backdrop color and then I create out of napkins I make them into rice paper and then I Modge Podge them on top and it's beautiful in my eyes. I do apologize for going into a very long story but with me being brand new I figured it would be okay this one time to let you know a little about myself and that's why I went into the pretty good detail in what I like I am a scrapbooker but I also love pretty much everything when it comes to the DIY world. N I just seen that I can hit And subscribe to your email I'm going to do that right now. It would be nice to hear back from you it doesn't have to be on this channel you could just send me an email if you would like did you ever work with cornstarch and paint on possibly small projects as the composition notebooks are my favorite and they turn out great in my eyes so have you done anything like that and if so maybe you can tell me where how far along to go to find it or maybe you haven't I think if you haven't maybe try it and see because I've done the plaster and it it got really do Beyond me and so I don't think my ratios were correct from a different RU-vidr that of course I just type it in and it pops up I'm truly excited to go back in to see what you've done and I look forward to your projects and also again let me know what you think about the paint with and I pick up the Dollar Tree paint also Walmart has the same pain for a dollar you don't get great colors but you know like I said I turn it into the chalk paint let it dry and then I do the rice paper from my napkin, and I will let you know a little bit more about that as it's regarding a business question oh, I'm so excited I love just seeing new people for me the first time and just supporting that way because it takes a lot for anybody to get up and do anything and then edit in all of that so congratulations with your Channel again I don't comment a whole lot of things and also I'm Italian so it's really hard to stop a conversation with me but I enjoy this I love meeting new people this way and learning new craft so thank you again and I'll get on that email list and hopefully I can send you that business question I was going to put on here but that's very unprofessional thank you so much Debbie
So glad you found me! Love new crafting friends. Hope you find lots of great content Debbie. I have not used cornstarch but It sounds interesting so I am going to give it a try! Your english is great and thanks for the note and DIY questions just ask away :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! I have been in a dilemma a out buying chalk paint and trying to find sample size chalk paint, 90ml pits were $10.00, way too much so now I can do my own. Yay !!!
Thanks ery much for sharing this great tip an recipe to make colored chalk paint I m going to try some for dotting projects hope I do it correct thanks and have a great day ❤
I buy sherwin williams samples. $8 or less for a quart. Work great for chalk paint. Even just on its own it holds up good especially with topcoat on small stuff like pots ect. I also use calcium carbonate instead of plaster of Paris
Thank you so much for this. I made some chalk paint yesterday and when I opened the container this morning, it had water floating on the top. Shall I tip this away, or stir it in. Many thanks xxx
I’m laughing as I watch the various videos you have created. I come up with a question at the end of each video , but I have not needed to post the question, low and behold, you have made another video that answers that question!
I just bought a 2 metal kettles at a church rummage sale today (saw them in corner on their flyer and wanted it so specifically went for that but got extra)… but I love the pumpkin idea. Also thinking of other things halloween theme now.
Also thank you for color chalk paint. I know neutral is your go to. But I love (LOVE) Halloween. And already have so many idea. But I got a Cricut last Xmas and got myself a new computer pre-xmas for my special BDay present to myself with their coupon. So I’m all crafty. And i found you and I want to do your ink transfer (but I don’t have a printer- and HP computer only subscribes out inkjet printers though I’m not sure if there would any difference between reg name inkjet vs HP thermal inkjet… I’ve been back and forth in it because I originally look at it for stickers. And then your videos suggest laser for best result. Limited funds suck). Sorry for vent. Figure I would ask- does your ink transfer method (whether laser or inkjet) seem more small/ United with project compare to HTV (which I know can be used on certain things thus I buy mostly wood and metal so far). Also wanted to do some Xmas items (well a lot) due to my uncle and niece both born on Xmas. So that was another reason for wanting to do color chalk paint. And last question: if I did use Cricut- should I seal the chalk paint first. Worry about transfer tape or build in with the HTV damaging paint underneath if that is not an area I want to distress. Like pop in center and distress flare out.
Thanks for getting back to me. Have a question. I understand 2 tablespoon plaster of Paris 2 tablespoon warm water but approximately how much of the tester paint. I am a beginner and would like to get it right if possible. Do love your ideas of repurposing old items
You are inspirational, I love your projects. Please tell me how you create the graphics (words not images) on the printer. You mention that there is a link in this video but I cannot see it. I have a good quality Ink Jet printer.
In the video you said to use half of the tester paint. It was 8oz so you used approximately 4oz. But in comments you said to use the entire jar 8oz. So will I use 4oz 1/2 jar or 8oz entire jar? Thank you so much!!!
The ⅓ cup of water/pop is equal to 4 tablespoons, so when she used 4 oz. of paint and 2 oz. each of water and pop, it is the same ratio. It got me until I thought about it for a minute. I'm anxious to try this. It seems pop would work better than cornstarch only because it is created to be used for industrial use.
I keep mine in a sealed container and it lasts quite awhile. I usually try to only mix what I'm going to use for a project 🌸 no I have never tried that. I need too
I have never tried that. I always buy a tester size paint at Home Depot and mix into chalk paint but worth a try ❤️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U1gG7IGg_64.html
so i want to mix a bottle apple barrel acrylic craft paint its 8 lf oz 236ml would i use same sizes of plaster of paris and water that you use? or how do i figuer out a ratios?
I have all of my graphics listed in my Etsy store and they are reversed ready to use for the mod podge reverse graphic transfer method if you’re Interestedwww.etsy.com/ca/shop/OurUpcycledLife
@@OurUpcycledLife thanks, but I meant the tutorial on editing graphics that you mention on the video, not your Etsy shop. I edit and reverse mine in Photoshop.
Wow, this is great. Thank you so much for sharing. Only yesterday I ran in to your channel, looking for methods to distress wood. And now I'm watching your videos one after the other. I've just subscribed. Since you are at the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, the brands that you show probably aren't available here. So I have some questions about the ingredients. Is the paint that you used a kind of (acrylic) wall paint? Plaster of Paris is a fancy name of DAP, I suppose. But what is it? Gypsum? Thanks in advance for your replies. That tea/coffee pot looks awesome. Is it aluminium? Locally I saw an ad of aluminium milk cans. That would be a lovely project to do. I wish you a lot of success with your channel. It's very inspiring. You deserve much more subscribers and viewers. (they'll come for sure), Greetings for Slovakia, Europe.
Ohh!! Thanks so much for your encouraging words❤️ I appreciate them. I use a latex paint as my base in the chalk paint and plaster of Paris is what they add to make drywall paste so that might be called gypsum in Europe 🌸 you can certainly paint aluminium pot and such with chalk paint and it adheres quite well. Thanks for following along and hope you find lots of great content 🌸 would love to see what you make
hi i love all your videos, im new to chalk paint you say its 2 tablespoon plaster of Paris 2 tablespoon warm water your test pot is 8oz you used only half the test pot 4oz but approximately how much of the paint should i mix 8oz or 4oz :) i love your orange teapot so cute :)
I use a LaserJet printer to make my graphics but you can also use an inkjet I have a video comparing the tworu-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bGaioUJg-nc.html
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! My goodness chalk paint can get expensive!! 😮😅 Just curious but have you ever tried making it withBaby powder / Talc ? If so what’s your opinion, and is the talc cheaper than the plaster of paris? Sometimes that extra dollar or two makes such a big difference it’s worth it, I know lol but I try to save if I possibly can 😊❤
Yes I have made it with baby powder and it does work pretty good it might not be quite as durable as using the plaster but it’s definitely great for crafting
@@OurUpcycledLife I’m experimenting with rice flour and corn flour- rice flour is fairly grainy- give a terracotta like texture- do u think it will go mouldy if sealed?
@@OurUpcycledLife What is the best product to use, as a finish, on wood, so you don't get water rings, when you set a drink on it? I have some wood pieces, that are old, and they had a funky finish on them. I don't like a real shiny finish, on some things, so do they make the product in a matte finish, too?
I have a project that won't use the full quart of paint. So my question is "Can you buy a quart of white and somehow color what you need"? If so how would you color it? Thx
