In this video, we show you how to convert an indoor scanner antenna into an outdoor base station antenna using a 4-meter length of 2-inch PVC pipe. We’ll take you through the process step-by-step, from unsoldering the coax from within the antenna on its matching circuit PCB to sliding it through a new grommet and re-soldering it to the PCB. We’ll also show you how to ensure that the antenna remains suspended within the pipe using two methods: primary and backup.
Finally, we’ll explain how we included a 4mm hole with plastic gauze to keep insects out while allowing air and moisture to be drawn in and expelled as heat and cold act on the pipe.”
