That DIY Electroforming Solution with copper is pretty easy to make and should help everyone that wants to get into electroforming/plating. I did a step by step video explaining how it is done. Hope you enjoy!
List of things you need:
Destilled Water (5L / 1gal)
Copper Sulfate / Root kill (1kg / 2lbs)
Sulphuric Acid / Battery Acid (160ml / little over half a cup)
And of course: Safety gear! You are handling Acid and Root kill. Wear a mask, hand and eye protection. Do this at your own risk!

Hello! Thanks a lot for the video. Exactly I'v seen some receipts with brightener also. It's supposed to add more brightness to the ornaments of jewelry. Do u know what kind of liquid is it and the messure for a gallon of electroforming solution? Can tell a little bit about this. Why is not really need it, that you think.. Regards from Spain.😊🪷🌅🪷

Does your recipe have any source of chloride ions? What about a brightener? I’ll be interested to see your work! Thanks for sharing…

Don’t know about chloride ions to be honest. I did not use any brighteners in this solution because I like the patina it builds after a short time. If you want to see the solution in action I recommend the copper Gameboy video I made. You can also find more pictures of the results on my insta.

Does the sulfuric acid put off fumes once mixed with the water and copper sulfate? Also what kind of gasses are produced by the electro forming process? I need to make about 15 gallons of this for the tank I’m putting together. Just scale up the mixture provided here?

Best work it in an ventilated enviroment. the sulfuric acid is only concentrated to 38% and further diluted with the water. There might be some gases created though by mixing the solution with the copper sulfite. To be honest I don´t know if or which gases are created during this process but I wear pp anyways. I was also never able to smell the solution. Neither while handling it, nor while adding current.

Is it possible to use pool cleaner with copper sulfate instead of root killer?

I can’t say for sure. Root killer is is usually just copper sulfate. I don’t know what other stuff is added in pool-cleaner.

I am not sure if there is an alternative to the sulfuric acid. You can check for battery acid (which is sulfuric acid with around 38% concentration) either online or at a car mechanics garage.

Possibly sodium (hydrogen) sulfate/sodium bisulfate. it's commonly used in place of Sulfuric Acid when only the conjugate base is needed, which should be the case here

Kann man die Schwefelsäure auch weglassen und nur Kupfersulfat in destilliertem Wasser verwenden?

Die Schwefelsäure wird für die elektrische Leitfähigkeit benötigt. Ich weis leider nicht wie sich die Lösung mit z.B. Kochsalz anstelle von Schwefelsäure verhält. Hier bitte gründlich prüfen da unter Umständen mit der Verbindung von Kupfersulfit und Strom Gase entstehen können.
