LOVE these pants! will definitley be giving them a try :) is there a reason why you don't sew the elastic into place on the fabric? Sometimes I have issues with the elastic twisting or folding in the waistband while I wear it. thank you for the amazing tutorials!!
Thank so much!! For this one I just wanted it to be a minimal look so I didn't sew it in place. But I find when creating elastic waistbands with linen/cotton/etc pants the look and functionality of sewing it in place works great! Just down to personal preference :)
I got some "belt elastic" that had stripey panels in both directions and is made specifically not to fold and twist. Maybe you can find something similar :)
The reason for why I avoid sewing elastic into place is because you can't switch out the elastic when it has stretched out as easily. My weight fluctuates and by doing the method in the video I can simply go back take out/put a new elastic in. Also, the bigger the with of your elastic the lesser it twists (or cuts into your skin)
Made these pants in a stretchy almost athletic knit, and they turned out great! But using a straight stitch I have already busted a couple of the seams. I'm a beginner, so not totally sure what to do other than just sew over the seams again? I'm just worried they may not last. Thank you for this tutorial and having such a great overall channel!
I know it's very late so you might not need this comment, but I suggest using some sort of zigzag stitch as that will provide more structure and help the seams from opening. (the same thing happened to me last summer when I first started, and that's what I did and it seemed to fix it.) Hope this helps!
Thank so much! With stretch knits I'd recommend switching the machine to a stretch needle and do some test sewing lines while adjusting the tension. Once that's sorted, it's easy as sewing with knits :)

It varies depending on the project. My main sources would be thrift shops (upcycling from existing garments or using sheets/table cloths etc) and thefabricstoreonline.com/ - if I can't find what I'm after there I'll go search other boutique, local options :)
Hi, these look amazing! I’ve got some very stretchy fabric, and im struggling so much with how to sew using stretchy fabric. I tried making lounge shorts using it, but it came out all wrinkly/wavy and didn’t look nice at all. I’ve tried watching other videos and can’t find a solution to this. Do you have any tips? I also made sure to use a zigzag stitch!
Same here! I would love to sew a hoodie, but I am a bit scared to sew stretchy fabric. I made a bathrobe of stretchy material once, which turned out fine (I used zigzag all over, also for the hems, and made sure I never stretched the fabric while sewing). But I still feel I need an overlock machine to sew a 'true' piece of stretchy clothing. It would be very helpful to see it done on a normal machine, with a twin needle perhaps? Thanks in advance!

Yay! I got mine from Spotlight, but ribbed stretch knit is quite common so just look/ask around your local suppliers (whether that's online or physically) x
