I think this is the BEST video of all for how to make a floater/pocket frame. As an artist myself, I am really frustrated that I have to pay hundreds (seriously) of dollars to frame my art, then the gallery takes anywhere from 30% - 75% from my profit, as well as taxes and s/h... doing this saves me so much money. I'm going to attempt this and hopefully the gallery won't be any wiser if I do a great job. I'll let you know how it went.

This is exactly what I needed ill figure out how I am going to actually cut the wood I have a few skill saws and hand saws I just need to setup a jig or something to cut on top of. But I needed this stacking process to create a floating frame for all my paintings! this really came out great once you painted it. I can see so many different options/processes I can also treat the wood or paint it multiple colors.

Thank you for the tut; I have to say that I absolutely LOVE that print!!! The colors and movement are gorgeous! The end result is beautiful, and what a splash of color it must have made on your wall. If you could possibly remember the name is the artist, I'd be so grateful if you'd post it. Either way, well done!!

Hi sorry I couldnt remember the name of the artist. But it is a very beautiful piece of art :) From memory it is about Tour de France - the cycling competition.

I realize you posted this two years ago...but I'm wondering what exact corner framing clamp kit you used in this video with the springs at each edge of the corners...? Or anybody that knows, if you'd share I would appreciate it. Thanks.

It is a mini framing kit I picked up from my local hardware store. I dont have its brand and model as I have binned the box ages ago. But if you search for "strap-clamp" on ebay, you can find many product that can do the same trick. Hope this help.

Thanks, I found one. Also, could you share how you compute your measurements for each side? I.e.: how long do you make each side? I assume it's based on the side of the canvas somehow...? I'm trying to make one for a 10x10 canvas....I have 4 actually that I'd like to do all the same. Thanks, again, for your help.
@HomenProjects
@HomenProjects 7 лет назад
yes frame measurement is based on the size of the canvas first, then add on top the width of the frame. For example, your canvas is 10X10 and lets say your frame is 2" wide. Then the length of each side of your frame will be 10 + 2 + 2 = 14.

Can you provide the measurements of each piece of wood used? I cannot find that information. Thank you!
@HomenProjects

my base is 50mmW X 10mmH, outer border frame is 20mmW X 20mmH and the inner sub-border is 20mmW X 10mmH. You can use different sizes to suit your own design... Have fun DIY!

Jenn Freriks wouldn’t it depend on the size of your canvas?
@artsalivestudio
@artsalivestudio 6 лет назад
Heidi Falzon yes. But that being said it would only affect the length and width of the sides, not the width of the pieces as they were stacked to make the appearance of the frame.

Cut all frame corners with a 90 degree angle? Or a 45 degree angle, maybe? Other than this, it would be good if you backed the camera shot away to give a better overview, and slo w down a bit. Some good info, (but very basic.) Having done my own mounting frames, you might also mention that there are several techniques to making a frames, several methods of joinery, etc.

Frame looks good, seems easy enough. Wish you would have spoken in the video as opposed to the music playing.

I'm sure you meant 45 degrees 👍 a mitered corner is 45. The frame you showed when saying that had mustered corners.

I guess technically it is a floating frame, just not a very good one.
