Jenna I just discovered you during an 8 week illness where I was mostly bed bound. I have a condition where that happens sometimes. I binged your relaxing videos and you inspired me to learn crochet. Because of you I was able to find a calming hobby I could do from the couch or bed that made me feel proud. Thank you so much 💚
I actually liked the unintentional scalloped edge, it looked like a flower, like a little tulip or something :) I am definitely making this myself! Too adorable!
Jenna do you know what you are doing??? You are bringing back needle crafts. Woo Hoooo! I looj forward to watching you learn and become a better knitter, crocheter, seamstress. Than me. And i have been doing those crafts for about 45 years now. I am 58 years old. Started crocheting at age 6 knitting 8 and sewing in middle school. Im glad to see that young people are crafting again. I did these crafts pretty much alone. Your enthusiasm is boundless. I show all my friends your videos and you are opening their eyes... i couldnt do it by myself. But you sure can!!! I look forward to all your new projects. You are a ray of sunshine🌅👨⚕️ You are Awesome!!❤
I agree. You need some pockets on it which could be just another granny square. If it were my bag I would put a pocket on one side and a pocket on the other side and then I would do the same to the inside so I got a total of four pockets for all of the extras that we carry around. Very cool.
I started crocheting just 2 weeks ago because of your channel and I absolutely LOVE it! Thanks for making all this fun stuff, especially this bag, wanted to try to make one like this!
This is so cool, and a matching top would be so cute! Although I think it might be worth sewing a lining out of some scrap fabric for your bag, last thing you want is a hook or a needle falling through one of the holes without you noticing!
@@Sans-fh6tq I rlly only asked that question bc Jenna put a picture of the blue and white 🧿 looking bag but she made a completely different looking bag, she also titles the video "diy granny square bag" as if it's gonna be a tutorial, but rlly it's just a VLOG while Jenna is crocheting. there's no point in using other ppls work in her thumbnail AND NOT CREDITING THE ACTUAL CREATORS OF THE BAGS SHE USED IN HER THUMBNAIL !!!
@@caeb1834 chill ma' dude, im just doing some trolling, a little tomfoolery, also for your information , if you want to do that granny square bag sirin's crochet has a good tutorial on how to do the circle thinghy
PRO TIP to granny square crocheters: Crochet the individual rounds in batches, as in, crochet the first round of each granny square you want to complete, then crochet the second round on all of those squares, and so on. It's a much faster process because you can more easily memorize the rounds, and it's really fun to see the progress come together a little more quickly. It's also EXTRA satisfying to complete that last round on each square, bam, you suddenly whip up one square after the other ❤️❤️❤️
highly recommend the cotton creme yarn!! its so soft and breathable great for summer tops (i actually was inspired to make a granny square top bc of you and i used this yarn!)
I'm sure someone has said this, but you can block the squares before you put them together to get that curve out of them. I'd just do it with a steam iron. It's so cute and the curves don't show in the end. I love that you can make them and put them together into something so cute and useful. Good work, Jenna
Hey Jenna 6:00 Did you know that you can just crochet over the string left behind from the last row, by placing it along the edge? I don't have ends to sew in, since i do it this way, some times i alternate rows, if i have two threads, or directions, so one tail is going left and one is going right. Either way! Little tip for you, so you don't have as many ends to sew in! You can also do this when knitting! Just wrap the end, around the thread you are knitting with, for each stitch, so that it lays on the backside of the garment. I hope this helps! Love your channel! Literally watched every video on binge, endlessly inspired by you! I'm a three time heart surgery survivor and art has been a huge help for me.
when you said "it´s like supposed to be the best crochet book ever" i just knew that it was Rose Svanes book. I myself is Danish, and me and my mom love her book, she´s so talented! It would be so cool if you made a video where you follow one of her patterns!
Pernile of course! But there is an important difference with some UK vs USA terms (UK dc = USA sc, for example). So, is the Danish dc the same as a UK dc or a US dc? That is my question.
I made a couple of crochet bags and used fabric bags for liners. I sewed the crochet straps onto the fabric straps so they wouldn’t stretch. I just used the blank ones in the craft section of most craft stores. It worked out great.
Okay so I stumbled across you looking to do a bag, your a hoot to say the least. I love your energy and enthusiasm. I am in the process of making this bag but i am stumped as to how your doing the handles, care to share this step with us. Please keep these videos coming, i am a fan💕
I‘ve never ordered something faster in my life than rose svanes crocheting book after you discovered the translating thing with the camera 😭😭😭😭 even if one day this will be realeased in english I just need it right now
Oh my gosh my favorite store is at Joannes not Michael’s Joannes has an amazing array of cotton. Great sales going on right now as this is December 27, 2023 and I have a closet full of goodies.
the capri cotton is soooo good they don't sell it anymore and it is amazing it crochets like butter i made part of a sweater out of that exact purple color and it was heavenly
It looks so great! I think what will ultimately make the perfect square is if you block them even before you do the border, I had the same with my blanket and it keeps pulling crooked despite the border being added.
Am very happy to discover your granny squaresenjoy listeningnto you it reminds me so much how I was around in Fort Riley,Kansas on my 10 th grade now 78 yrs old
Love your video! And this bag! OMG chef kiss ! Just a little tips. For the trim, to have a nice straight line, you can do double crochet or whatever, and in the parts that are at different level, you do a bigger stitch (for exemple in this case a triple crochet). And you do your second round with juste double crochet. I hope I'm a little bit clear in my explanations, I'm french and going a little bit technical in English is not an easy task! 😂😂
I wanted to crochet such a bag for long - now I start it 👍🏻 It's perfekt to take my crochet stuff with me, but I will sew a lining to make it more stable. I will also make a matching needle book and a case for my crochet needles from grannysquares 😊 Thanks for this video 🥰
Jenna, literally love your channel. Been watching your content over a year now and finally getting to making my own content, literally just found my great grandmothers granny squares and need to find what to do. i'm really hoping I don't have to make more!
This turned out great, Jenna. And I am not singing Jingle Bells with that color combo at all! Well done! Are you going to line it? That would be a good tutorial if you’re so inclined.
You made a really intimidating project simple. Thank you. To prevent the inside of my bag from fraying, I’m going to sew some cotton fabric inside as a liner. Perhaps add a pocket for keys
I love it!! Can you imagine doing a similar bag but with a fabric inside and at the straps so it has more stability? This would be absolutely great so you can take it and go to the park or something🥰
When you said you ordered a book in a foreign language, i had the STRONGEST feeling it would be in my language, danish. and i was RIGHT. so now i gotta get that book ahaha
I love the bag so much,I think it's a "all year bag" I started a granny square bag,but It's so much work,so I gave up😅 I'm a visual learner,so I can't really read a pattern without seing the process🙁 It always makes me happy to see you've uploaded a new video☺
hi Jenna!! I love your videos and your can-do spirit :) I would recommend sewing a lining or always keeping your project notions in a little additional pouch or pencil case in your bag! One time I was going to teach myself how to crochet and I put my stuff into a knitted bag, but I lost the crochet hook because it fell through the stitches of the fabric ☹️ I just don't want that to happen to you when you are using your awesome new bag 😊😊
It turned out so cutee!! I’m definitely gonna make it one of my next projects! I’ve made a crochet bag before and I definitely recommend lining the bag with a matching color fabric so that the stitches don’t stretch , I didn’t realize that when I made my bag and the stitches stretched wayyy too much especially since I was wearing it a lot :)
Omg, i absolutely need that book too!! I've been learning Danish for like 3 months now because I plan to move there for college in 1.5 years and this is just perfect... also it's very pretty AND useful, sooo
Hi this is very random but if I may I wanted to recommend the HiNative App! I think it's super helpful for questions that go a bit further than just vocab and grammar and actual native speakers can offer you more natural phrases. Thought I'd leave it here :)
I’m sure you get this all the time but I love your little plant collection! You have some super gorgeous happy looking begonias, and that Hoya by the TV, so cute! What happy babies! Good for you for being able to keep that orbifolia happy too! I haven’t quite mastered the dramatic calathea fam….
I know im 10 months late, but what was funny to me was that is was thinking the book must be a Danish one, and then it was 😂😂 I love Rose Svane, she makes so cute stuff
