hey darling, a double crochet is a stitch. What you were doing was called an increase. thank you for this though I can’t seem to find any other free patterns for something like this ):

I have a question. Which size of crochet do you use ?

@@nadiabarrique6584 It’s a 5 mm hook, but you can always go up or down in size since some cloth yarns are quite thick.

Btw isn't it better to make reductions to make the roof? so it's a single piece and everything

That is so cool, and the ratties must love it so much. I can't crochet lol, (I once tried for 2 hours watching tons of different tutorials... no luck) but I'm going to try a similar thing with knitting.

I’m going to try this with regular yard in hopes that the rats can’t get stuck but if the do I will take it out and get that type of yarn to do it ps I haven’t git my rats yet I’m exited!

Hello! Here I am again ;) really planning to try this. What size hook (thing you use to make the crochets) do you recommend for this? And do you maybe have recommendations where to order cloth yarn like this. Hope you can help me! :)

Hey! I know I’m not the OP, however you can find this kind of yarn at Hobby lobby, Joann’s Fabric, Etsy, and other stores in the US/UK! The hook size depends on the yarn you get and will say it on the yarn !

THIS! This is so amazing! I still can't wrape my mind around how I didn't think of textile yarn! I'm just a happy bean now ^^ Thank you! And since I'm a beginner too: That was a wonderful tutroial to follow! A+ for visibility of loops and for the working speed. Again: Thanks! I have no idea if this is helpful or not, because I've never worked with textile yarn. Maybe it's hard to pull through, because your crocheting is a bit tight? Or the Hook is a bit small? But that's just an idea, because I'm a beginner myself and I nerver chrochet for somebody else (or tiny rat paws).

I’m sure your hammy would love it! I would just suggest not to hang it up and rather put it on top / buried in the bedding since hamsters aren’t good climbers. 🌸

How do you wash it since mine are hanging hammocks?

My hammocks also hang. I just chuck it into the washing machine for an hour at 20ºC - 40ºC. No special settings. I haven‘t had any issues with this method! ☺️

It definitely wouldn’t harm them, but I’m not sure if a cloth hideout would do well in their enclosure with the humidity and the way reptiles poop.

Sadly I don‘t know how to write a pattern yet. Maybe once I get more experience in crocheting I‘ll know how to. Sorry!

Sorry for the late response! The “yarn” I used is called cloth yarn. It’s basically made from old t-shirts. You should be able to get it at any craft store.
