Thank you for the review of DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating. To answer your question about fabric and carpet here goes. On fabric and carpet DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating bonds to the fibres with the goal of providing stain protection and ease of cleaning. It will provide hydrophobics but not dramatically. If strong hydrophobic properties are desirable, add a second coat 1-2 hours later.

First of all, 99% of vehicles adorned with leather ARE, in fact, actually leather. Most of that leather is of low quality, but it’s still leather. Most of that leather has a plastic coating over it which is breathable. Thus, leather lotions can and do penetrate to condition the leather. Putting a coating on top of the coating can do 2 things; clog the plastic coating or act as a sacrificial layer of protection. We don’t know which DIY does here. Clients ask what they can do to protect their leather … the answer is simple: use common sense when entering and exiting the vehicle. Excessive rubbing is usually the culprit. Don’t smoke, eat or drink in your vehicle. 😊😊😊

I appreciate the input! So I’ve spoken to product company’s and they gave me the info I spoke…. That being said… The information is older info. It’s possible it’s changed in the past few years. Mostly though, it’s for cost cutting measures. Now if lower quality leather is more economical than the vinyl/leather composite or faux leather, then I can totally get behind with what your saying… I guess this is the problem with the internet, everyone says something different and we are left to “pick and choose” what we believe… I know though with animal rights activists having a stronger voice we’re most likely going to be going to even more vinyl or as Tesla would call it, “vegan leather” lol I appreciate your input and I’ll be sure to look into the claim I made… Your totally right. The best maintenance is good common sense! I always value your input and I appreciate you!

@@mr.lad-detailingtricksntip lol, no you misunderstand. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m saying there are distinctions in the upholstery industry. ‘Faux, Genuine, Vegan, imitation’ and all the other words they use are only identifying markers. Usually any words used to describe leather are self explanatory. If it says “leather” or “genuine leather” then there’s no way around it, it’s actually leather. It’s the law they have to conform to, not our opinions. Vehicles that have “leather” or “genuine leather” are ALL leather. If its called anything else, it’s not really leather. Alcantara is not leather, vinyl is not leather, vegan leather is certainly not leather. There are also “grades” of leather. Lower grades of leather go on cheaper vehicles, higher grades go on more expensive vehicles. 😊😊😊

Correct, in the case of DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating it doesn’t block the pours. Your real leather will still breathe, and your vegan, vynil, and bifacial leather will be protected.

Thank you for the review. To answer your question at the end, it will give you both stain protection, and if you want hydrophobics, add a second coat.

@@diydetailofficial I would be interested to hear the science behind your claims of this product not clogging pores. I have this ceramic detailer and while I’ve not tested it on protected or unprotected leather, it’d be nice to know the relative risks involved. As an aside, it’s quite nice on plastics of all kinds. I’m not convinced on upholstery or carpet, but that’s what testing is all about. I don’t want to jump the gun and label it garbage because that’s just not been my experiences with it. I want to take it through the paces and see for myself. 😊😊😊
