DiY Digs & Woosh Castlemorton 1992 

This was one of the first ones I missed from 91 til then.. My mates made it but they all dead now and can't share their memories, forgot much of what they told me about it.. Makes me feel maudlin watching footage now. I was 19,in my prime, dreadlocked and loving life following festies. My most memorable.. Twisted tree 91 and up the black mountains where the sun only seemed to come once a day for an hour, potholes and mist and voices coming from holes calling for a hand out.. Lol.. Happy daze.

I was here from start to end, AWESOME once in a life time experience.

I was there. Loved every minute including my paranoia. Bass amphet, speeding my brains out. Bloody great years, late 80s and into the 90s. Shame Castlemorten was the last big party. Lechlade, Strawberry Fair, Acton, A46,,, Bath, Glastonbury, Bristol then Nottinghaamm, London. Go on Harry, DK.

We were amongst the first on site, 10mins after arriving a good friend appeared from nowhere n gave me a sheet of anarchys WOW The lights the colours man !

Special times 😊 Great upload! I don’t know how this would be replicated again (hope one day it does). We were bored, there was no internet and not much for the youth to do. This music and partying was everything then. You can tell almost the the year what dates the tunes were from, loved this sound! 🥰

Sounds like they were proper spannered mixing this. Them were the days. Wish I'd have been there, went to a fair few others around the time. The best time ever, the people, the music, the drugs, the excitement, the adventure, the massive anti-government movement/feeling, The kids against the establishment, this was the shit right here... fucking coppers didn't know what the fuck to do most of the time. Meanwhile we had the best nights of our lives!

I wish I could have grown up in this, it was a special time for those who lived it

there was a news report on Midlands Today... it said the rds to Castlemorton were blocked by gypsies crusties and drug addicts all converging near malvern.... four teenage boys skipped school and walked across country to the quarry!!! NOW THAT IS A MOVIE X

I was there for that weekend, most amazing!! I was in out of the DIY tent all night but can't remeber too much sadly :( The set I remember was the Jack set which I love still. I can't seem to find it on RU-vid but I will try and dig it out and upload it

I was there for the whole time, each to their own and all that but I kept gravitating back to the DIY marquee as it had the best, friendliest vibe.It was the furthest away from our campsite, nearest was Reggies rig which was a more hardcore very powerful rig.

This was an awesome party! Once on the common en mass,the police were quite good! It’s COMMON LAND,not just for sheep! The media really tried to make it out to be Anarchy! The lady who had say over wether it was OK,had no issues with it! THIS WAS THE 2nd SUMMER OF LOVE! 🌸🌸💕

I personally feel the rave music was at its best around in 89. The faster techno jungle stuff that began to emerge 91 onwards I struggle with imo.

Yeah yeah fuck , talk about euphoroc recall i almost pukked over my laptop finding this ! i remember takin five square snowball e's to this event, took me 6 weeks t get home ! Maaaan, good timez. x

I was at Castlemorton, but I don't think it was the best rave of the era. Drug dealers had invaded the scene fully by then, and there was an undercurrent of violence and crime - basically people not there for the music but to make money selling drugs. Lechlade was far better because it was a purer crowd of party people and hippies/travellers. Buying drugs wasn't as risky or threatening, and the smaller size (still 15k people) made it more of a friendly, family vibe. Castlemorton was in fact the death knell for raves - shortly after the CJB came into effect, driven mainly by this party. It was also when the sub-orbital London crew merged with the more relaxed west country ravers, and it created a slightly harsher atmosphere. The London warehouse scene was amazing, but it wasn't the same as the field raves born in Somerset. Different crowd, different vibe. Still, good times, but it was the tail end of an amazing era. PS notice - not a single mobile phone screen in sight in all those photos. This was about 15 years before smartphones were even a thing! If you wanted to call someone you had to walk to a phonebox. Can anyone tell me what was the festie called that was in a area with lots of trees right next door to a 3 lane road/motorway (one road had been closed off) the police had big floodlights set up in the clearing just outside of it? Was a 3 dayer I think. This was in 91..also what was the one in Portsmouth called, they had a legal folk festie literally around the corner. That was a wild one. 91 again.
