pro tip: instead of going out of your way to purchase fabric chalk, you can just use a SOAP BAR (easy to see on the pants/shorts and easy to wash out). And if you don't have a cutting mat, just use cardboard, and put it in the inside of the pants legs.

I LOVE altering clothes!!! I've been doing it since the 80's!! I always wore men's 501's and would take the legs in making them as skinny as I could get them!!! Like our jeggings today! You can't make a mistake! Just do it...its so fun!!

This is my GO TO video for making my jean shorts. I have since made several for myself and friends and family. They all ask where I got my super cute Levis shorts. Guys section at the thrift store. Never fails. I came to watch again to get my go to measurements from you and I am about to cut up my mens wranglers that finally fit me! They are going to be killer. 🔥

this was actually really helpful! great tip about spacing the cuts and so cool how the wash/dry did the work for you. I've watched a lot of videos and not many actually do authentic worn in distressing-but this definitely looks like the real deal-thank you!

Probably the best one I've watched to date; you can also take nail scissors and make tiny cuts around leg openings (about 1/8" apart) to accelerate that process. Thanks, happy Friday!

@@serenagoodpasture7115 vertical, at tiny intervals around the leg openings. Then, if you want a mindless task to fill a rainy day, you can take tweezers and pull out the threads to get them started, at various points around...viola! Instant distressing

This is a good technique! I've used a dremel rotary tool as well to get immediate results on place like the the pockets, zips and waistband.

I was lucky when I was a teen (in the 90s) I would just nab my dads old work levis that were already heavily distressed with worn spots from his wallet and everything. I only had to cut them into shorts and toss em into wash on heavy and WALLAH! The perfect summer cutoffs!

Found some Rock Revival jeans at a sale today that someone had chopped, and hemmed to make capri pants. They look horrible (due to bad stitching) so I'm going to try and make cutoffs out of them for resale. Pray for me...lol

If youre curvy leave the back much longer to acounnt for the bum. You can always take more off but not after later adding more back on.. also the waist band zipper part in front should be laying flat showing the back tag part about an inch or 2 lower for hips NOT laying straight across lining up exactly together. It always sits lower in front when fitted at hips or above at waist so cut it that way.. those are my tips

@@megankriz2982 no ... Take. Agape measure. Go along the top of the jeans.... If it's 15" across that's a 30, if it's 14" across that's a 28. Etc.
