I'm glad you like it! I spent a while trying to figure out how to easily give the dogs a controlled space to run without taking the time to set up aerial dog runs or fences. This was a simple solution that I didn't see anywhere else so thought I'd share it. Good luck with yours :)
Thanks for the tip just moved on to a two acre property and needed some way to keep my dog from going into the street while still giving him the freedom to run around and play . This is great!
I love this idea! You mentioned when people come over with a dog, you have somewhere to put them. Have you used this with multiple dogs at the same time? How do you do that? How do you keep them from getting tangled? I'd love to do this for our dogs!!
I’m glad you like it :) I spent a while thinking it up. I’ve only actually tried one dog at a time. Let me know if you do try with two how it works. I’m sure you could keep them separated completely with stop-knots and shorter ropes, but that’d greatly decrease the area they can roam around.
It isn’t used much because we don’t have a dog, but it is still installed and operational. We detach the rope from the earth anchors when it’s not in use and store it in a bucket.
There are two ropes. One rope is on the ground. The second rope is attached to the dog's collar on one end and attached to the ground rope on the other end. Hope that helps.
Nope, the dogs don't seem to have any issues like that. There's a natural spring when the dog runs to the end of its rope in any direction (except exactly in line with the ground line).
