I love the 60s/70s furniture that I still have in my home but you did an amazing job moving this set into a beautiful upgrade! Removing the metal grids was the way to go.
The modifications were on point. Dusting sucks anyway so no need to have any extra! And yes, I need places to hide clutter when I’m doing a fast clean up for company! 😂 Those cubbies were very odd in my opinion. The set turned out beautiful! 🦋
Thank you so much!! Yes those cubbies were a bit of a mystery. They looked about the size of shoeboxes…but why would anyone want to store their shoes like that? 🤣
I love the style of this furniture and think the makeovers turned out so pretty. Yes to removing the grills and adding shelves. I noticed the Florida silhouette on your shirt. Are you in Florida by chance? I'm in Melbourne on the east coast.
Thank you so much! Yes I’m across the state from you, in the St. Pete/Clearwater area. Which is probably why all my clients prefer the light, coastal colors too! 🤣
@rescuedbyamy practically neighbors! I have a Henry Link Bali Hai dresser and nightstand to refinish for my self. I think they might be reproductions because the maker's mark is missing. The nightstand has the original yellow finish. The dresser, unfortunately, was painted previously and very poorly. The drawer runners are broken, too. It's been sitting in my garage since maybe 2015!
I love those old faux bamboo pieces, they’re so cute for FL. The bad paint job can be overcome with good sanding and a better paint job, but the broken drawer runners…may be best to just buy new ones on Amazon 👍
Yes, might get new runners. The old ones are plastic which of course get brittle and break off. The nightstands (I do have 2 purchased at different thrift stores years apart for $25 each) have wood runners, which are fine. The wood runners are actually 2 pieces of wood nailed together. I'll get around to it one day! Maybe.
