In this video, I make a Dust Extraction System. It's a way to get the dust out of my workshop. I am building many parts using 10mm plywood. I use the electric motor that I removed from an old fan.
There are many air blower videos on RU-vid. Very good videos, what I did was a dust collector Centrifugal Air blower that works quietly, though not very powerfully. It consumes very little electricity and works great. It easily collects and expels the wood dust in my workshop.

Reconfigure your installation to get rid of that 90• elbow. Flex duct work is another thing to avoid if possible. Removing the elbow will make a huge improvement in the performance.

That’s all connected to the exhaust (outlet) end though right? From what I can see he didn’t hook any lines up to the part that actually sucks up the dust

simple but effective - don't mind the ones that want always bigger - faster -louder ....i also prefer low-energy-consumption and silent solutions 👍🏻we do have enough machine that are crazy loud and every extra noise we don't add to them is a win - and btw for the very fine dust flying around in the workshop/ air that is a nice way to do it. but i admit if you want to use also a particle filter in the airstream the power may be not sufficient. 🤔 i'll have to check this -Anyway- well done & keep up

I think it's a great machine you've built but if it was me I would have made the impeller to shroud distance way smaller than what you have primarily because if you look at EDFs (electric ducted fan) , squirrel cage fans , turbochargers and turbine engines ,they traditionally have extremely close tolerances to achieve maximum efficiency otherwise you're generating a lot of turbulent flow in that space between the impeller and shroud and whilst I understand you don't want to produce the equivalent of jet engine thrust it will give you far greater efficiency out of the 65 watt motor

Ouch. Several things to avoid in any fan / duct design: no turns/elbows within 3~5 duct diameters of the fan discharge; if possible make any elbow turn in the same direction as the fan rotation (in this case, duct DOWN would be in same turning direction as fan blades). Carry the dimension of the fan outlet (this one is....6x6?) for 3' (more if possible), straight, no transitions. Make the top of the discharge duct flat / even with the outlet of the duct: this upper area of the fan discharge has MUCH higher velocities than any other area, and thus pressure/energy loss is MUCH greater for any turbulence in this area. Violations of such guidelines can result in 50% (sometimes more) reduction in fan performance.

Этим моторам необходим обдув. Без принудительного охлаждения, температура быстро уходит за 100 градусов Цельсия, и у двигателя сгорает термопредохранитель в обмотке. Так что, долго эксплуатировать это нельзя. Проверено, 2 шт. уже сгорели.

Это когда много свободного времени, на всякую ерунду, вместо того, чтобы зарабатывать деньги и приобрести нормальное оборудование. С таким пропеллером, мотор долго не проживёт, да и производительность низкая. Ничего личного, вы же спрашивали мнение....

You killed it with that 90⁰ elbow. You need to find either a sweep 90⁰ (large radius) or to install two 45⁰ elbows to soften that turn, for improved efficiency. Just saying...

Fantastic classroom, I would call it as a show because that is full hard work to present such nice video. In youtube the idea behind is to incentivate people to learn how things works, how they can be made and above all, how they can be innovated. Nobody would be able to improve or add inputs if the hard initial part, the base of the project wasn't created, from scratch. Congratulatios.

Каретка пошла на перекос, заклинило, ну и как следствие - расплавился от галогенной лампы 150 W пластмассовый вентилятор охлаждения. Я его из плотной бумаги потом склеил точно по такому же принципу.

Такой же, только железный. Двух-скоростной, 1 кВт/2800 об., 180 Вт/800 об., в стальной бочке со съемной крышкой в качестве накопителя. А этот - развалится через неделю использования от разбалансировки и общей хлипкости конструкции. У меня первый то вариант, из стали 1 мм в разнос пошел. Балансированный, между прочим. Теперь из 1,5 мм стоит.

Hi, so many people make the encloser bigger than the propeller. I think there is wrong, because the part presure in this run just round this encloser without any effect. Maybe i am wrong but there is my opinion. Anyway good job. Greetings from Lech land.

I assume you have a motor lubrication screw on the impeller side bearing. 🤔 You hid it in the structure of the device. 😥 Lubrication of the bearing on the other side is easier. 😉👌👍

I tried using this motor (from a floor fan) for a spinning wheel. at a load much less than yours, it heated up very quickly. this motor only works with forced air cooling.

I don't understand how this is a dust collector all its gonna do is blow the dust to one side of the shop. To collect dust it needs to suck be pulling the air in not blowing the air out ??

Looks like a nice size tradeoff for improved noise reduction. I suspect it'd be really good for smaller tools such as a scrollsaw if you wanted to use it directed at a single tool, rather than to merely circulate.

the elbow is very restrictive use two 45 degree elbows to minimize static pressure loss.

Хорошо, ежели нечего делать. Но этот моторчик с таким грузом прослужит совсем недолго. Совет: надо на входе в шахту сделать крестовину. Удлинить вал двигателя. На крестовине установить подшипник.
