Turn your kitchen scraps into a fuel that can burn very hot and heat a small greenhouse or area where you keep tender plants during a cold spell. Very inexpensive to build and super simple to assemble. Fuel can be stored for long periods of time and is very stable.

This is so interesting that I had to back it up several times to get it in my brain because I was cooking with my back to the TV. I came online to thank the creator of Zen Garden Oasis. I have chickens now and already use all of eggshells as they are organically derived. But I'm going to do a trial run of this project. We are in an El Nino year. Between that and the horrific geoengineering here we are guaranteed trees down and probably lengthy power outages. I need all the survival skills I can accrue. Thanks!

I don't mean this in a snarky way, but what is the advantage of gelling the fuel? I'm just curious about that. I had the exact same thought while watching this! @@victoryfirst2878 This is a totally non-technical answer but the average temperature of the room I've been heating went from 68° Fahrenheit to 72° Fahrenheit! The clay pot is two inches in diameter larger (inverted) than the top of the heater and I balanced it on top of a stainless steel cooling rack (on top of the heater) that exceeded the diameter of the pot.

Cans are usually lined with petg now. I'm more concerned about that ducting since galvanized metals burning produce fumes that can flat kill you. Pretty cool transformation. You can skip the crushing step if you're willing to just wait a few days. Drop it in a bucket and maybe shake it once a day when you check. Any leftover solids should then be larger so you don't really need to filter as finely.

If you enjoy experimenting and trying new ideas ( which I do ). Then try flame heaters. If your only wanting minimum time and effort obviously thermal mass (containers filled with water and heating by the sun) is the way to go. Check out the cat litter container video. If your just wanting to save $ get a electric milk house heater and timer. All of my heating videos are geared towards greenhouse warming (40-50f). Not home heating to 72f.

@custombassboosts 5 месяцев назад
You need calcium carbonate (the main constituent of egg shells). Calcium tablets may or may not contain calcium carbonate and can have many other ingredients (the same goes for chalk). Luckily pure powdered calcium carbonate can be bought rather cheaply online. The ultimate goal is to make calcium acetate by reacting calcium carbonate with acetic acid (so you might want to buy calcium acetate instead). For best results make the calcium acetate solution as concentrated as possible, this so called saturated solution can be made by dissolving calcium acetate in cold (not hot) water. When a saturated calcium acetate solution is "plunged" into ethanol, the solidification is often instant, although sometimes a short vigorous stir is needed. Mixed with ethanol it converts back to liquid over a few days, so it's best mixed right before use.
