An Electrostatic Dust Lifter is a device which some Crime Scene Investigators use to visualize dry footwear impressions. The unique defects in a shoe's sole can sometimes help investigators place a specific person--or at least their shoe--at the scene of a crime.
Bu these devices can be obscenely overpriced--often between $600-700. In this video, I perform an electrostatic dust lift using a cheap taser using an idea that was published by a member of the Newton, IA Police Department.

Yeah, sorry friend. Between the chaos and my other career (healthcare) and changes in my personal life, the last year and a half has been a little nuts. But I'll be thinking about some topics that might make decent videos for the channel. Thanks for sticking around!

No, I gave up the ghost on that one. Pretty much all the work I did through my company was pro bono, because I did a lot of work with survivors of domestic violence. I'm obviously not going to charge those folks. Classes that I offered and heavily marketed to people in my region were poorly attended, despite them being priced at cost. Businesses in all but a handful of industries would rather fall back on their insurance policies than invest in their security. And the generation with the most disposable income largely refuses to believe that their electronic toys, like the ring doorbell, aren't actually adequate to secure their homes. It's a shame and a disappointment but it is what it is.

@@ContingencyLabs I've done somethings with Onpoint tactical in the past and am always interested in training with other people. Unfortunately the past two year have been hard to schedule time to travel and train at other places.

@@paleoanonymous9026 Perhaps I'll be able to offer something along the lines of what OnPoint offers, one day. It's just a matter of finding affordable facilities and, of course, demand at a price point that can sustain it.
