Thank you a TON for explaining that you _are_ putting a quote in that huge dead space. Omg, I was _losing_ my frickin' shit over it! Was literally talkin' to my screen sayin', "How could you miss that space? That's gonna drive you nuts when you notice it...."🤣🤣🤣 You got me woman... you got me _real_ good! 🤣🤣🤣

love to see women empowering women, you and your friends are such a power team. I saw Danie's video back when she released it and I loved it, more than the original piece, and I think it's such an amazing idea to carry it through a whole wall. Especially in a place like a guest trailer, I feel like that space really lends itself to that idea if that makes sense. It's going to be such a statement piece in the whole trailer and I love when things are just unabashedly purely there for style and vibes and not necessarily to make everything be functional. I mean, shelves are always also functional but you know. (That being said I feel the need to interject that I always think you are outstanding for making your spaces functional for the humans who use them, with room to actually live in and use a space). I really can't wait to see how you style this but I'm just enjoying the ride and it's such a satisfying experience to see the raw beginning of creating a space basically from zero. I think it's almost mind blowing how someone can make something from almost the ground up just with hard work and dedication. I always think renos and building are so satisfying to watch because of that. I've always felt that way. I remember when I was little the house we moved into had this huge attic that was just one giant second floor to the house and my dad and his friend turned it into rooms and the moment the drywalls went up blew my mind. Sorry, I'm rambling and it's not even relevant to the video.. I'll leave the comment here, hope you will have a great week xx

Hey Rachel! I love your channel and that you’re doing all of this yourself! I have 2 tips for the electrical: 1- when you drill through the studs to run your wires, try to hit the middle of the stud. That way, if you ever put a nail/screw in, you won’t hit the wire. (Or, you can protect the shallow wire run with metal plates that get hammered onto the stud). 2- please make sure you’re putting all of your wire connections in a junction box! I noticed you had a connection that was in front of some insulation… If you put drywall on top of that (without installing a junction box) it has a pretty good chance of catching on fire. Again, you’re such a badass. Keep up the fire renos and inspiring content!!

Ok, I've only watched 3 videos so far and Girl, you are crazy but crazy Fantastic! So proud of you for taking the plunge into fantasy construction/renovation! Be careful with electrical! I didn't have time to read the comments so if someone already suggested this, then I apologize and am not trying to take your idea. I think I would pipe in the joint compound onto the seams on the inside of the shelves where the two foam pieces meet and then I would use the paper tape to cover the seams and then you'd have a smooth area for plastering on the joint compound. Maybe that would help with the mess from the foam being cut open on the inside of the shelves? Also, would you be willing to try mortar for the top layer? It gives a beautiful texture and can be sanded. If you're wanting a smoother surface the joint compound is perfect. Been woodworking and working with foam for a long time, 25+ years, and I mainly use it as a sacrificial barrier when cutting wood on top of my workbench so I know exactly how messy it can be. You did a great job. It looks beautiful!

So special how you share credit with your BFF and the other great creators like @DIY Danie. The shelf is so cool, can’t wait to see how it turns out. I think the foam is so smart because it’s lightweight and if your style evolves, it won’t be as hard to remove.

Am in love with these types of shelves, since you are using drywall why not commit to a stone look? You could go all out with the color pallet using mineral paint (or washes of different tones w/e). Plus it takes the pressure off you to achieve perfect symmetry in your curves & whatnot. I do still think youre right, hitting the foam with the orbital sander & sealing it with something (latex paint??? Idk what melts the foam and what doesnt) BEFORE putting mounting it & using compound seems easiest. Did you try using a wet sponge or cloth at all? I know youve used that trick with joint compound many times before!

Hey girl! I love your opening animation! It's just perfect. Did you learn to do it on skillshare? Or pay someone to create it? I'd love more info if you don't mind. Thanks!

Looks dope Rach, I really hope you don't demo it, I loved the vanity as well but this fits in the space better. It's a winner baby!

I'm early for once. All i wanna say is damn!!! You're on fire girl and such a huge inspiration for me. I can't express how much you make my day with your videos. P.S- I love the belt you're wearing in the video. I can't find one like that. Please tell me where you got it from??

I love this idea! You also could have used air dry clay to mold it around the foam.. Yes it totally would have been a lot of clay, but it would have taken on that beautiful organic look... Almost like porcelain.. I love this idea sister! You made it possible for others to create this piece.. High five girl! ✋ you are dope!

@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz I'm not sure about the genius part, but I have always wanted to make this. Just on a much smaller scale, like for little trinkets. I just never knew how I could, but because of your idea it's a much more achievable now. Stay fresh lady, keep my creative juices flowing!
