This just gives so much MADtv energy! Stephnie has really refined her comedy from all of her years of experience on TV. The editing is pure MADtv style.
I'm a first responder/RN on the frontlines in SF and laughing so hard at this tutorial just wiped all my tears away. This is just what the doctor ordered!
@@sue2613, we will accept ANYTHING anyone makes, no matter how awful they "look". Just as long as they will protect us all. We are still not out of the woods and still need more PPEs.
Oh my...when she holds up those strips of elastic, hilarious! And sews her shirt, brilliant. She’s nailed the true art of home sewing-Ingenuity-we aren’t going for perfection here! ❤️
I had to share because I would not have been able to go to sleep knowing I was the only one lying in bed in the dark chuckling out loud. You made my day.
I love when she holds up the two 7" elastics that are clearly not the same length. And, this is after she puts her nose down on the table trying to read the ruler! This video is a hoot!
My wife and I have watched this over and over. Every single time we laugh until tears run down our faces. When she came back on and had bandages all over her fingers, I lost it! And, heavens, when she takes off her shirt! I must search for more videos by this lady!
Tom Wyant: this is Stephanie Weir from the old comedy show MAD TV; search her name with MAD TV in the search here on you tube; she created some truly hysterical characters from a remake of Wizard of Oz where she plays Glinda, and another where she is an old lady in a condo retirement center. A screamingly funny woman.
The tears are running down my face and I was literally laughing out loud during this whole video. I've watched so many mask making videos, I had no idea this was less than serious. Beyond hysterical!
I watched this video so I could learn to make masks...I didn't realize it was a comedy..I laughed so hard I peed...I needed that,...the laugh not the p,,
I have watched this at least a dozen times and still laugh. I didn't know, initially, she was a comedian, but figured it was meant to be a satire after she came back with band-aids. This is seriously one of the funniest things I've seen in months. Perhaps those who gave it thumbs down have never sewn...
Well, I am a sewer, I didn’t know she was a comedian, I just that she was someone else wanting to make a video to be seen. I almost fell over with laughter! I love this will share and save! I loved when the child looked in, like mom is at it again!😆
@@ricardapriest5789 I'm not a wine drinker either, but I find that Crater Lake Hazelnut Vodka works well. I drink it while I watch my wife sew them. (No wives were harmed in the making of these face masks)
I’m a senior making masks in my studio (I’ve sewn since I was 11), and once or twice I’ve turned the pieces upside down, sewn the nose dart where the chin dart needs to be and if I couldn’t laugh and let it go I’d cry. Thanks for the humour to lighten the task. This was sent to me by another fibre artist sewer also making masks. The thumbs down must come from non sewing folk who aren’t surrounded by fabric, pins, scissors, threads littering their floors while we endeavour to keep the masks coming. By the way this mask making costs me $$$ for materials so the humour helps.
There was a couple of "OMG" moments before I realized what kind of video this was. I did watch it 4-5 times because I couldn't see through the tears in my eyes! Thank You-Thank You-Thank You for making my whole day!!! Maybe my whole week!
At first I thought this was going to be a serious tutorial...it didn’t take long to see the humor in it. Hilarious!, right down to the multiple band aids and finishing and the two ear loops that were so radically different in length. Well done! 😁
I just about died on the second take when Kay came back with the bandaids on her fingers, and how she was reading the numbers on the mat. Too funny, I hope this goes viral, good job.
I almost dialed 911 when my wife, at the other end of the house, started to cry and sob and yell. It took a while, even after she ran into my office for me to figure out she was not dying but laughing. Meet the new Tim Conway. Don't let this woman go to dental school.
My sister sent me this this morning. I laughed till I cried and walked into the bathroom door because I was laughing so hard my eyes were closed. To understand my reaction you need to know that I'm a disabled nurse home making masks myself, and having my own little trials making these so when I saw this I had to burst out laughing at myself and the gem of laughter this video brought to my weary spirit! Laughter truley is the best medicine! I cant wait to see more of her videos ! We will make it through all of this together ..this I know !😊😉
reminded me of my ex-mil; Her husband and son would always quietly find "something to do" way down the back paddock whenever the sewing machine came out.
I certainly learned from this tutorial the following: 1) Wear your glasses if you need them; 2) pin the fabric when cutting; 3) measure the elastic one on top of the other to be sure they are the same length; 4) keep your foot off the pedal when not sewing; 5) we can keep the wine part!
Hilarious. I started to get very nervous, and then she came back with all of those band-aids which was so funny...glass of wine at the end was the best. LOL
For someone who's been couped up alone for the past month, thank you! This was hysterical! I made 125 masks to donate. I needed a good laugh. Keep trying, you'll get it!
This is absolutely priceless! I have been sitting at my sewing machine for three weeks sewing masks and when I saw this video I was in tears laughing! Too relatable!! Thanks for the laughs! 😂
I've seen a lot of funny memes and videos, but THIS one had me laughing with tears streaming down my face. FANTASTIC humor to heal our funny bones! Thank you!
You made my very sick, in pain, 13 year old nephew laugh and that is just the best thing ever. This was hilarious and my sister, his grandma, told me that she was trying to explain to me just this exact thing would happen if she tried to sew masks after I kept insisting it was not that hard! Loved it and great comedy relief for those of us who have taken on the burden of sewing masks for our families, friends and health care workers.
After 10 weeks of severe GI pain, for which he is having trouble getting treated, may daughter let me know that she and my grandson watched this video together and laughed so hard. Thank you for giving my sick grandson something to laugh about. I will love you forever!
OMG I am crying I am laughing so hard, in Part II when she comes back on with all the bandages on her hands! OMG! This is the best!!! HAHAHAHAHAA!!!! You are great Kay!!
This is the most hysterical thing I’ve seen during this pandemic. Genius. Carol Burnett and Tim Conway level humor. I shared it on Facebook and emailed it to others. Thank you!
My friend sent this to me and I expected it to be a serious thing and almost didn't watch, especially when she came on in her tiny, soft sewing lady voice and mannerisms. I figured, What the hell, and left it on seeing it was pretty short. So glad I did. My wife sewed constantly before she passed away and this reminded me of all those sewing/quilting shows she watched. Great stuff and a well needed bit of humor in these times. The thumbs down folks just need some laughter right now.
Roger so sorry to hear your wife passed away. I'm sure you are wondering why your friend would have sent you a sewing video. I'm glad you decided to watch it you probably needed some humor right now. I pray you have family to keep you company during all this quarantine mess. I'm glad your friends were able to send some humor to you.
Roger, how wonderful that you are able to celebrate your wife's life in this way. And you can even see the needs of the thumbs down folks, which others are overlooking. I salute your excellent example of how we should all live our lives. Your wife was a blessed woman to have you as a husband. Lots of warm thoughts and prayers for you in this time, and a toast to your wife who is in a better place!
Ha! Same! My sister sent it to me this morning and I had only been awake for about 5 minutes.... and was like no thank you.... she texted me back an hour later and said it's funny so then I watched it, she was right🤣
My 8 year old and I laughed so hard! This was brilliant. Everything about Kay made her look like Martha Stewart with a serious twist. Loved this. Thank you Stephnie!
@@GrassPossum well shes a comedian for adults so nothing is wrong with adults laughing she does it for adults..not kids. Dont worry this ones for us 👍❤
I was enjoying the moment to sip my protein drink when she reappeared after cutting her two squares. (so many fingers bandaged up!!) Yep ... totally lost it and it went over the computer and I inhaled wrong. The rotary cutter had me holding my breath! Every bit of this had me in belly laughs!! Thanks totally needed it!!
The first season of MadTV (when they had a bigger budget?) is classic TV IMO, right up there with I Love Lucy, Carol Burnett, etc. Especially the movie ad spoofs. In later years it got lazy and too dependent on recurring characters (Stuart, Ms. Swan etc) jut like SNL usually does. p.s. the 10% of SNL that still is hilarious includes the John Mulroney hosted episode from right before the lockdown start, it's the best one in years maybe, look for it on youtube, esp for the "Airport Sushi" LaGuardia sketch with David Byrne.
@@progpowerfan Yes! Love Stephnie Weir! Comedic genius! 😆 If she was on SNL she would be up there with Tina Fey & Amy Poehler (meaning with recognition & pay)❤️
OMG.... I'm laughing so hard! I just regret for everyone laughing who isn't a southerner, as she nails a certain kind of southern woman, making this whole thing doubly hilarious.
I haven"t laughed so hard FOR YEARS..the video went viral to my friends who don't even sew...and what was really funny was to watch my friends get aggravated because Kay doesn't sew right at first ..then they finally get it..also what makes this really funny to sewers is that we have done some of the things in the video..I just last week nipped my finger with a rotary cutter..i never sewed my sleeve but i certainly have sewed my finger....the tetanus shot hurt more than the sewing machine needle going through my finger...Love it when your son shows up..Bless his heart..he did a great job...WHAT A GREAT VIDEO IN TIMES THAT WE NEED TO LAUGH THE MOST.!!
This came to me shortly after literally sewing through my finger, and while soaking my poor finger in disinfectant, spilled the solution on my laptop - oh, s**t! I needed this video really badly! Thank you for making my rough day better.
@@mambakind Sarah, I think lopping off a finger tip might be worse!!! I'm doing fine - back to sewing - headed to 200 masks now. Computer, well that's a longer story
Looks like she returned her sister-in-law's sewing machine with her blouse still "stuck" in it. I hope she will make more DIY videos!!! Sooo funny! Thanks.
This is by far the Funniest video I have ever seen! I started laughing at the 9"x6" square and continued throughout the entire "tutorial"! Tears actually running down my cheeks. I used to quilt before I started painting and know those tools so well. Kay Pruitt is an amazing comedian. At times like this, laughing is food for the soul. Thank you so much Kay, for putting this hysterical tutorial together!!.
This is how my Mom would have done it. I remember when she tried to sew a hole up in my Dad's pants pocket. The pocket ended up being sewn to the fly and the fly was sewn shut. lol
Boy she needed that wine! 🤣🤣🤣 I just about died of laughter when I saw all those bandaids on her hand! Frankly, I think this lady is a better seamstress than I am! Cuz I would mess it up even more than she did!
I laughed sooo hard I was crying! This is by far one of the funniest videos I've ever seen! Watched this several times and each time I was laughing so hard I couldn't even see!! I don't see how she kept a straight face thru it all. What a funny comedian! Please make more videos....we all need the hard laughter!!
I wondered why my good old friend even sent this to me when she knew that I did not sew. I am as afraid of a sewing machine as I am a chainsaw. Just sure that needle will run right through a finger! Then I watched, and laughed so loud my cat ran out of the room! Having come from the South made it even funnier! Love this woman!
a pox on the schmucks who felt compelled to put a thumbs down on this clip... .. it's just good clean fun during a time when we can all use a smile! thanks for your clip - I loved the wine glass near the end... funny, nice touch.
@@cosmiccoyotedog-doreenb9605 That's the last thing you want to see is your mom taking off her shirt LOL The look on his face was priceless and he couldn't turn around and leave fast enough.
I think most of us who have sown a large quantity of face masks can relate to her State of mind and the bottle of wine. I’m still laughing… And I really needed that! Thanks so much for the video.
I laughed my head off, but I am laughing with you Kay, because when I made my masks, when I placed my pleats, I stuck myself with the pins not one, but THREE times.
Oh my goodness, I can't take her seriously. I started laughing as soon as the video started. She was my favorite on MadTV. I'm so excited she has a channel! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love, love, love this! It has been so long since I have laughed this hard and had no concern for interrupting online zoom classes, no concern for where the air particles that are leaving my mouth are landing, no concern for laughing over the news that is talking about the pandemic. Thanks, Kay! Happy Friday
Oh man!...this is hilarious! A one point I was yelling at the screen, "No, no...don't put that needle through your finger!" Good job on the video, the mask, not so much! We need humor like this now...more than ever!
@@dcwatashi yeah she did the old lady Leona Campbell and she did. Dr. Kiley so many others course it was quite a few years ago when she was only maybe 40 she still got it got that acting talent 15 or 20 years later
I sincerely hope you weren’t injured shooting this video!! I was rolling on the floor laughing!! I couldn’t look when you changed from using the scissors to the rotary cutter. When your son enters as you are removing your top then leaves even faster - Very funny video!!
YES!! when the rotary cutter came out, I almost couldn't look!! Why?? Because I've been there, sliced right into a finger, and thought, "huh, look at that!....oh, don't bleed on the fabric!!"
Ellen Helms Yep! I whacked myself about a week ago and yesterday I really sliced the side of my hand near my wrist, right over a vein. That one did not want to stop bleeding and I had fabric orders to cut to ship. You can’t bleed on other peoples fabric!! 🤦🏼♀️
I surely needed to laugh!! Thank you for the belly laugh, my son came to see what was wrong with me!!! He is 32 and I am 65!!! This was fabulously wonderful. 🥰
Oh my Goodness, this is so funny and unfortunately spot on for me: LOL. I know how to sew but these masks are challenging, at least for me. Hate the elastic placement and the pleats! Thank you for your much needed humor in this very crazy time. I'm still laughing!!!
