DIY Fail, I'm Humbled. Organizing Under The Stairs Storage, Drink Drawers, Corner Cabinets, Junk

Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share with you this DIY fail. semi fail, idk what to call it. waste of time?! haha I needed to organize under the stairs storage and I decided to use this trofast system from IKEA which. is great because it has a lot of drawers! then I got to organizing and decluttering the corner cabinet in my kitchen! It was housing all of the seasonal stuff from birthday parties, fall get togethers, and thanksgiving along with christmas stuff basically way too many things were shoved in that cabinet and I needed to declutter and organize it. It looks and feels much better now! Next was my junk drawers - two of them. I made one into a drinks drawer instead of a coffee station or tea drawer etc. I made a water drawer because that's on brand for me and I've been loving adding things to my water lately and the other junk drawer is a true junk drawer. it's organized now but still full of random bits and bobs and basically junk.
Hope this gave you some inspiration to do something around your house!

Good morning Kim❤️✨ you get an A+ for effort!!! For your red bins what I would recommend is getting some posterboard from the dollar tree and cutting them to size so that they fit in front of your stuff so that you can’t see through the mesh! XOXO

What I remember from wallpaper hanging is that you make a plumb line with chalk and a string and put the wallpaper against that edge, which will be square and true. Many walls are crooked, and that's why you do it, rather than starting in a corner which is strangely likely to be wonky. Also, it would like fine where you pierced it together, but there is a white stripe at the top of one of the pieces that needed to be cut off to create continuity. However, once you put the drawers in......perfection!! And your kitchen organization looks great! You must be tired, but you did a ton of work that will serve you well! Enjoy some R&R if you can find any time to do so!

Yes, I was going to say this, don’t start at a corner. The plumb line is important, very few walls are straight.

Hi Kim! From seeing and talking to my wall paper guy when he was doing my little one’s bedroom on an old London Victorian house he said always start in the middle of the wall and work yourself outwards as the lines are never straight! And even so still if I need to wall paper something else I will still call them 😂

Kim, I love that wallpaper! It's so fun and such happy colors. For your grocery bags. You can keep anything, you just can't keep everything! Take ONE container (drawer/tote etc.) and fill it with your favorite bags. Let the rest go. As you find a new bag that you love, take one out of the container and put in your donate box, to make room for the new one. This way you get to keep your favorites, but it's a manageable amount. :) You are definitely a LADYBUG, just like me. We like hidden, simple organization. Now, you know that you need opaque containers. It's all part of the learning curve. You're doing an amazing job with being a mom and just living your best life!!! Love your videos! ❤❤❤

For the bins, if you don’t want to see through them, you could use white or red cardstock to cut to size and slide right inside the front to make it solid

I use cereal boxes to make little boxes and also make from cardboard, don't have to spend $$$. A few sheets of patterned paper for 50 cents a sheet and tape makes them pretty.

I am a Professional Organizer and I tell my clients that everyone (including myself) needs to channel their inner Scarlett O’Hara and have a “I am not going to think about this today, I am going to think about it tomorrow” spot in their house. Then when that spot is overflowing, “it’s tomorrow” and you have to deal with it. It gives you grace in the moment.

Hire somebody! They won't just organize your stuff, they'll analyse your habits and your personality and figure out a system that is specific to your family. I think it's worth it because it really makes such a difference to stay on top.

Kim I love how that closet turned out. I am someone that likes hidden storage but also storage inside of storage. I also love Cas she's hilarious. But those drawers are probably better for everyone because you can kinda see inside them. Don't give up on the wallpaper. It takes practice but worth it. That pattern is gorgeous. Someone else already left the tips for you on the bubble. It works perfectly. I also get overwhelmed. So I do one or two things at a time. That way if I need to adjust take something back for something else no biggie. But I love all your ideas in this video. Hope its nore practical for you this year. And thank goodness for awesome neighbors. Thanks for sharing!

Kim you did great and I'm sure your family appreciates all you do to help them have a nice home . The wallpaper looks good and if you don't like it later on you can just pull it down I hope . You did great ...there is a big difference in peel and stick and paste wallpaper. I believe the paste is a bit easier to work with as it can be moved around easier. I love that paper in the storage room . You did fantastic. Give yourself some praise for your accomplishments !!!

It's time to get our lives together! So hydrate and buckle in and remember to keep arms and legs in the vehicle at all times. Wallpaper, my love/loathe item. I grew up with the handiest parents and was helping my mom remove and hang wallpaper in my teens. Love the bright color and you did great your first time for I am scared of the peel and stick! Hi Kim, you have a daughter who is an Artist! Eleanor can try to copy the Design of the wallpaper on matching white paper and fill the empty spot. I think it came out really nice and even though you can see inside the bins it looks very organized and fun at the same time. Give yourself some credit!

You could always put a piece of trim low on the closer wall and remove the bottom wallpaper on the bottom. I love the drinks drawer!!! ❤❤❤

Colored drawers under the stairs are perfect; and by perfect, I mean good enough. Well done. You did it. Wire rack on the inside of the door would be great for holding small cleaning things and you would not need to climb over anything.

Oh my gosh 😂 this looks eerily similar to my closet renovation. Wallpaper was going great, go to open the second roll (they were from a thrift store) and THE SECOND ONE WAS A DIFFERENT PATTERN. Had to rip all the wallpaper down and wallpaper a different wall. It was PAINFUL. if you do wallpaper again, I highly recommend getting a prepasted or even unpasted and using glue yourself. The adhesive is a a LOT more forgiving than peel and stick

You can cut off the top high section of wallpaper to fill your bottom section. You see the bottom more often than the top.

Kim plus you have textured walls! I’m 45 soon be 46 and I can remember helping my aunt do wallpaper with a long pan of water with glue and putting the roll of paper into it for almost an hour then pull it out and start putting it on the wall then you had a lot more steps! I will NEVER do wallpaper again even the peel and stick type! But for your first time hands to you! ❤ I love Bloom the berry and the the strawberry banana is good!

You could put up some decorative boards, like wainscoting, under the paper then you won't need to buy more and patch the wall a bit better.

Kim that's what decluttering is sorting and making all those decisions It's exhausting! Especially for your large family. My suggestion is for you to set some rules up for using those junk drawers. Don't use them anymore. When people want to throw tidbits in the junk drawer they need to toss it in the garbage otherwise they need to put it where it's true home is. The junk drawer is nothing but delayed decisions. So the choices are now trash or to their true home. See if that helps. I'm a hoarder I'm learning how to tackle these problems. The other thing you can try as an experiment is leave one drawer totally empty and after a few weeks look what has collected. See if it is pure trash. Is my point proven? Then set the new rule trash or put it where it belongs. You are doing great!! 👍 👏 💪❤

Morning!! I love the wallpaper, I have used the peel & stick as well & it was grrrrrr, plus I used in the main entry hallway off the garage but regardless it’s still hanging. Maybe you can ask Eleanor (I think you said she was your artist) to paint in the pattern where the wallpaper ran out. I love the storage drawers too, they match perfectly.

My dads a painter professionally i helped with wallpaper all the time as a kid even for my own room. Its definitely difficult and tedious work. A+ for effort though😊

I kept lots of my kids artwork, and still have some, they are 40, 43 and 45....I asked if they wanted them, of course not! So I took pictures of some of my favorites, there is one short story I kept, and threw the rest away, there might have been one or two tears shed....
