Can you seriously believe I only spent $3.75 on these beautiful vases! I highly recommend to hit up your local thrift store for some ugly vases and then turn them from trash to treasure! Let me know if you have any questions!
Colors I used: light pink/beige is pottery wheel. The darker pink is glazed pot, and the orange color is toffee tart! All from behr paint!

Mine is coming out with white splotches as it dries and I’m using a terracotta color. I wonder if I’m not mixing the paint well enough with the baking soda?

Perhaps you could go over it with a thin coat or two of the Terra cotta to cover the white

Maybe it’s not ideal of pieces that will be heavily used? If I try to scratch mine off I’m sure it will come off, but they’re just for decoration so for me they are holding up!

so lucky .. here in canada the trifts are expensive ..... a vase for 5$ and you get ones for 75cents.. nothing is under 1$ lol

I think it depends on where you thrift, Value Village is always 2 to 3 times more expensive than smaller thrift, local charity stores where I live in BC. Maybe try somewhere like a hospital thrift store or MCC?

If your intent is to make these look like ceramic vases then the brush strokes should be going the other way, ideally you shouldn’t have any brush strokes. The paint should be thicker too

This was brilliant !! From someone who upcycles furniture a lot, placing glad wrap ( Saran Wrap) over your containers and then screwing the lids ( not too tight) makes it easier to open the containers.

Do you think your could do this on plastic? I have this plastic bottle thats in a really cool shape and want to try the textured diy to it but im not sure if it will work the same way as glass

If you happen to have a plastic water bottle around I would say try it on that and see if it works! However, more than likely it should because regular paint adheres to plastic too!

We do this to all our planters and hit them with a spray seal, That way they all look like ceramic planters and they give off a more unified upscale look

@@maynunez Yes! Any planter/bucket work. The key is to give the plastic a good rough sanding so the paint grips, it looks really nice that the planters are all different shapes and sizes but the same color so it looks unified like they all came from the same place.

These are so beautiful, I love how curated and cohesive they look together. The groupings are so visually fun and unexpected in a really elevated and thoughtful way and I love the variety of plant containers this opens up. Normally latex paint scratches off of glass very easily - have you had any problem with that happening?

I did, but it was such a simple DIY I didn’t think to make a video! I just used two screws in the back to connect the two pieces.

I don’t know why but for some reason my paint won’t stick on the glass vases at all.. any tips? I’m using a basic acrylic but no luck!

Guess you need a primer for that. I have the same problem. I think my paint turned out too thick and lumpy. Will primer the vase and try again.

That’s so strange! I agree☝️with Smitha, maybe there’s too much baking soda and not enough paint to adhere to the glass! Try using less baking soda and see if that helps, if it doesn’t, use a spray paint or regular paint primer!

Is there a way to get it off vases after having them painted? Is it going to come off if I wash it with water? I’m asking becuase I’m planning to change my home’s colour palette next year, but I want to paint my vases now so bad!! 😂

That’s a great question! I wish I knew! BUTTTT you can always paint over them again!😅 At least that’s what I would do! I love paint! Haha
