This was a project we recently created in the shop for a local client. This was the first time building this style water feature, but I have to say I've very pleased at how it turned out and more importantly, the client was very pleased with the finished product.

Nice work! I’ve used the faux stone panels before but how does the stone finish hold up over time with the water flowing over it constantly?

Hello, looking at doing something similar to this in my backyard, what spillway did you use on the top to give the effect of trickling instead of it shooting out?
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue Месяц назад
I made a custom spillway in my shop. But basically it's just a flat piece of stainless, set at an angle which allows the stream of water to flow down onto the front
@haydengross
@haydengross Месяц назад
Thank you for the response!! how do you meet that stainless steel with the point where it falls over the edge? I’m trying to have a clean faux brick all around the edge and no metal bordered instead of the spillway sticking out like on most i want it to just trickle down so would i just have it meet right at the edge where the faux brick starts?
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue Месяц назад
@haydengross I literally just crated one up the other day to ship out or I would have taken a picture of the top. I'll be starting another here in the next week or so and when I get to that point if you want I can take a picture of the top and email it to you when you look at the top of the phone it's very irregular there's not a line to follow. So I laid a piece of stainless steel across the top and traced the Contour of the faux stone and then cut out that contour so it lays across the top of the faux stone and you can't see it because it takes on the same contour if that makes sense.
@haydengross
@haydengross Месяц назад
No worries! Im curious to see your solution for that. I was scratching my head for a while trying to figure out the best way to do that and incorporate it with the top trough. I would love to see an example whenever you get the chance! I just sent you an email and would love to see something whenever you get the chance (no rush by any-means) Thank you for the information its much appreciated!

Hello, does this kind of water feature needs chemical maintenance?
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue 9 месяцев назад
Unfortunately all water fountains will need some level of maintenance. Depending on your location and the various climates, it may be necessary to add chemicals in hotter months to prevents algae growth. It's similar to a small jacuzzi with regards to maintenance. Keep a balanced Ph level and the water quality will be clear and keep the water feature looking its best.

Nice video and beautiful end result; but like every video out there about building a water wall, there seems to be a lot missing. What were all of the parts and products you use? How did you assemble it all? I have been spending an exhausting amount of house and can not find all of the information I need. Where do I buy all the necessary pieces, etc? I want to make one that is a 4' high x 8' long water wall for my backyard. I was thinking that is the size of a standard piece of plywood sheet. PLease help if you can.
@ArtfullyRogue

Hello there, to be honest, making these videos are really hit or miss. Sometimes I give too much info and people complain and then I don't give enough and people complain. I'm not saying that you're complaining, I'm saying I understand your frustration. This was the first one I built so there was a lot of trial and error on my side. I figured when I build another one, I'll do a more in depth "how to video" that dives deeper into the actual build. For now what questions do you have? Maybe shoot me an email at rogueartist@artfullyrogue.com

Diagonal cross braces would probably strengthen it quite a bit. Then again, it probably didn’t matter once you installed the stainless. Great work. You can look forward to seeing some of these elements in my upcoming water feature build.

I know you were going for light weight, but with the beautiful stone color you chose, and the water, and the location as a whole, treated or even epoxy covered wood would have looked so much better. Still a gorgeous project though. Thank you for sharing!

Wood rather than the stainless trim? Or wood instead of the faux stone? I've had a design for wood instead of stone for a while but no time yet to create it.

When I was in high school I had a job at a place that made marine products. One of my tasks was sanding the stainless steel tops for the stoves they built. If I recall correctly, we used 600 grit wet n dry paper and made long edge to edge strokes to get a uniform brushed look. That machine you used on your project would have been an arm saver for me. Oh well, it was like getting paid to go to the gym. 😁

Using wood in place of the concrete board? I suppose it you seal it, with a product like Red Guard, I would think its possible.

@michaelcross4871 4 месяца назад
@ArtfullyRogue Thank you for messaging me back. I'm from the UK and the product red guard I can not seam to find in the uk. Is the cement board still holding up that you fitted with out the red guard and could you attach natural stone similar to tiles straight to the cement board. Many thanks, Mick
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue 4 месяца назад
@@michaelcross4871 Honestly, you can apply the concrete board and just tile it like you would a bathroom wall. I add the Red Guard basically because I'm using a construction adhesive on faux stone as opposed to a regular tile adhesive and grout which takes the job of the Red Guard.
