A tip on a rear main seal cap like that. You would want to leave the plate bolts just slightly loose. This will allow the plate to center on the rear main. It can definitely make a difference in the longevity. It's standard practice on most performance builds. Talking general, not Ferrari.

@328gts1987

impressive to do this alone and on the driveway! Listing to your intro: my car drove 67.000km's on original clutch (F1). It is all in the understanding and feeling how to shift & lift. Put your foot down and keeping it down during shifting (F1) is killing (like in stick-shift car). By lifting the throttle during the shift (upward), the flywheel (& clutch) go down in rpm's (compression reduces the rpm) and by shifting (up-ward) the drivetrain also lowers in rpm's and by this lifting the throttle the clutch "slips" less. However as you have a upgraded ECU as explained in the video, I think that makes all the differance as I have a F430 with same ECU. In short: shift & lift during gear change (=shifting up) helps. Let the ECU shift down as you have lift the throttle to reduce speed and downshifts (during breaking) are done perfectly by ECU. Upgrade the ECU to expand the lifetime on your clutch is key
@grimson
@grimson 3 года назад
This is inspiring. I don't have anything like a ferrari, but I do have an MR2 and no garage and the clutch is going to need changing soon. I know it can be done, but it's daunting, so good to see someone doing it with a much bigger and heavier transmission!

WOW, you tear into a Ferrari with more confidence than most guys on a Lawn Mower...

Gotta be your experience in repairing the F1 hydraulics and your proficiency in driving a manual gearbox. It shifts by itself but you know how it should feel. Not to hold a car on a hill or move forward 5ft at a time in traffic. Wait for a gap, give it a bit of gas and let off quite a bit as soon as it breaks inertia to creep forward. Just a guess, but realistically it should make a big difference. Great work.

And I thought my 996 Turbo was a PITA to work on. Well done mate.

Great video Scott - you are really dispelling the myth about Ferraris being difficult to work on. With access to the workshop manual and a suitable diagnostic tool, it looks like anyone could do the work if they are mechanically savy :-)

Mate.....you are the BOLLOCKS!👍🏻🥃. Outstanding job.... outstanding video.... your knowledge of the inner workings of the Ferrari transmission is epic...AND, the fact that that everything you do is "learn as you go", makes your videos even more enjoyable. Thanks for the incredible content! Please keep it coming!

Amazing that there could be quality 'upgrades' to a car which just by sheer cost should have the finest quality parts available anywhere.

Yes, I am not a pro mechanic, but I tallied it up recently, and I have done 21 clutch jobs over the last 40 years. A couple semi trucks , a couple medium size trucks, a 1 ton truck , a Fiat X 1/9 , a Lancia Scorpion , a Datsun 280z , a number of Japanese pickup trucks , a Toyota 4x4 , and a Mazda RX - 7. None of those were difficult, and I would not be afraid of this either. Plus..if I got bogged down, which I doubt I would, I could watch your video. Nice job by the way...

I don't see it been very difficult. BUT thats because I allready saw somebody else doing it. If I did not it will be a different thing 😉😂 Great job nice to see you going back to your origins.

love the fact that you clean the parts before you put them back in. So many rebuilders don't

Just love the way you replace all gaskets, o rings etc! Very much my way of working. Only wondered why no thread locker used on clutch flywheel screws.
