DIY-Fishing Rod Holder 

Built it and put it on my boat but I put 5 holders on. Going to make another. I made them out of 1 1/2" PVC. 2 of them, I made larger to hold my bigger fishing rods. I then put pipe insulation wrap, the kind that has the slits, inside and glued them to keep the poles from banging around (another RU-vid idea that I found 😁😁). The one thing that I ran into was the amount of PVC "dust" from cutting it. Do it outside if possible; that stuff sticks to everything! Overall, very helpful. =========== Update: 9/8/17 When using the pipe insulation wrap, make sure that the poles fit into the insulation and PVC fairly easy yet tight. I made mine based merely putting the pole into the PVC and didn't account for the insulation thickness. I had to cut away a bunch of it to be able to get the fishing poles in. In retrospect, I would start with 2" pipe and if necessary, go larger. But still, ABSOLUTELY LOVE the idea.

i hate to leave negative comments but any experienced plumber will tell you that this white pvc pipe is not the proper applications for outdoor use. The resin doesn't have UV protection in it because it's made for INDOOR plumbing applications and will crack/break sooner than later. Check out T-Rex Tough fishing Rod Holders on eBay or Amazon...they have it down pat and offer a 10 year guarantee....very heavy duty built to last with unique features. I love mine.
