Cheers for the first DIY of the new year! Here's something that will keep cute and cozy for the rest of winter. Hope you like it! themanifestdestiny.com/journa... Song by Scandibeats
Adding the scarf portion with the hood is absolutely genius! Don’t think I’ve ever seen that before 😮 what a great idea! And there’s POCKETS?! On a CAPE?! Count me in please! I’m just about to start teaching myself quilting and eBay keeps showing me really cheap bags of colourful felt scraps for sale. I’m so tempted to make a rainbow patchwork hooded scarf cape now 🌈😆
I’m so excited to try this! Can you explain a little on how to draw the hood? I saw your blog post and read it 14” (I’m guessing the straight edge that closest to your face?) from top to bottom but what is the 21”? Thanks!
The 21" is the curve from your forehead to where the hood connects to the body. I copied the hood from a hoodie that I own which can work too. Hope this helps! 💕
hey! I didn´t quite understoood the part of the scarf , how do you sewed it with the poncho and the hood? why is it have to be 6" by 57" width of fabric and not only the length of the neck? hopefully you can answer
I attached the scarf to the side of the hood, then sewed the hood to the poncho. You can really make the scarf however wide and long that you want. I did 6 inches because it's not too wide or narrow, and 57 inches long because that's the width of my fabric so it was easier to cut AND it makes it long enough to wrap around my neck like an actual scarf. Hope this helps!
can i use a thinner fabric? And how did you decide the measurements? i want to make this, but i don't know if the measurements you chose will be right for me.
You can absolutely use a lighter fabric. I would still go for something with a little weight just for body, drape, and warmth. I chose the measurements based on my arm span. I measured my span from wrist to wrist for the width. The length is just the width of the fabric uncut, i.e fleece comes in 58"-60" width so I just left that as it was. You can adjust for your height and arm span and the steps will still be the same 🙂
Hi Sheka! The link is here: themanifestdestiny.com/journal/f/fleece-poncho . It must've changed when I redid my website, so sorry about that confusion. This poncho is definitely a favorite of mine as well!
