Wanted to thank you for taking the time to film and narrate all of this, and with such clear instructions for the project nonetheless! Much appreciated video 😊
Thank You for making this video lesson for a crochet horse bonnet. You coved everything I needed to start the project. Good job and the finished product looks great.
I’m making this for a lesson horse at my barn, do you have recommendations for a 13 hh horses measurements? I can’t measure because I don’t own a horse
Could’ve used more clear indication on sizing. “Keep going as big as you need it” but what measurement do I need? Measurement between ears? Front length? Browbone ? Something else?
Hi Katya! The begining of the video describes how to get the measurements you need! So when I said to make it as big as you need it, I ment to crochet until you have the length measured at the beginig of the video. Hope this helps!
Im gonna try this! but i have 2 questions. The one you were making right now in the video, was that a size full?, and like the material you used for the ears. Could you please asnwer?
You don't have to use the recommend hook unless you think you need it I found that if I have thicker yarn doing just a regular crochet which is easy enough to find a good video for the good video for we'll keep it sent enough so it's not super thick. For the size like the Pole measurements it's the same concept you don't really need to adjust anything for that.
A bigger yarn can be used, but you'll have fewer stitches. Otherwise, you'll have a bonnet to fit an elephant rather than a horse! 😄 Kidding, of course, but the bonnet will be significantly bigger if a larger yarn is used. Play with hook size, too, if you do end up using a larger yarn.
Try doing one double crochet one chain stitch one double crochet (When double the chain stitch skip the stitch you would've gone into if it was a normal dc and move onto the next dc and so on) This will make the gaps bigger, it's the stich almost every fly bonnet uses, bcs it looks nice allows more airflow and goes faster, highly recommend trying that :)
A bonnet may be good for when you do a leisurely ride. Also good for days when there's lots of flies bothering their ears. I saw someone make the ears out of bandanas, so it made it more "western". Maybe try that?! 🤷🏼♀️
