This is s great tutorial. I've been refurbishing helmets for a little over a year. One thing I haven't done, is spray painted the pads. That's actually a good idea.
Jakk B. that's true for Riddell helmets. I'm glad they make it easy to distinguish between a youth and adult helmet. youth is gray adult is white. Schutt helmets are a bit harder to differentiate
You’re the king! Thanks for this video! I’m customizing some helmets for my sons. I’ve done it before, but I wanted to get fired up before I put my wing decals on because I think it’s definitely the most nerve-wracking part. You should take a little time to explain the spacing of your wings. Nice work, beautiful helmet. Fly Eagles, fly!!!!!!!
The helmets are easy and cheap to find. Its the decals that are hard and expensive to find. I can usually find sweet helmets for 5-10 bucks at swap meets. But I'd never find the decals in a million years. Cheapest you'll find a decal set is online for about 25 bucks
marcus spencer Some people get really creative with this stuff. I'm a relative newbie to helmet paint etc., but I've seen a few amazing concept designs floating around.
wow this is great! I'm in the process of creating my own Denver Broncos helmet. I am still looking for the NFL shield as decale, the American flag, the Green Dot. Can you recommend me a shop that sells them, and that also ships to Germany? best regards from Germany
I wish you posted a video of the way that you lined the wings up on this helmet. A lot of the helmets that I see have the wings closer in the front so that the bottom black line of the wing doesn’t line up to the facemask bar like yours does. I prefer the way you do it , but I was wondering how you lined it up that way.
hey bro i ve been looking to make onr. a washington skins. but i am having a problem finding the proper decals. i have looked on amzon, ebay. you lead in the right direction. by the way man yours are the best i have seen. great job
Many thanks! It's honestly tough to find the decals out of season. It might be worth messaging an eBay seller who has other sets and asking if they have the 'Skins too. Good luck!
I made a small housing out of cardboard trying to keep the area clean. 3M brand sandpaper. Starting with a lower grit, be careful around curves and edges. You'll do great.
I know I'm late on this video, but how did you find all those decals? I understand you bought them on eBay, but did you manage to buy them all together or separately?
Hey how much would you charge me per helmet if I need 19 helmets? I collect them for my man cave and try to get them sign little by little. I already have 11 helmets but missing 19. Lmk and I’ll work out a deal with you. I live in NY and if you are close to me, I can pick it up. Even help get some of the parts! Please help.
Brother, I’d love to be able to do that for you. But the truth is, I wouldn’t have enough time to put together a solid product. And I’m not that good with paint etc. The camera was kind to me on this project. But you have my ear if you need any tips for a DIY.
+kiem duong You can try calling your local parks and rec centers. Sometimes they update gear season to season and will sell their old stock. The thrift store is another option.
The cheapest full-size replica Rev helmet is $140 on the Eagles’ site. This costed about 1/3 of that. But really, the idea was that it’s something fun you can make yourself. A few of my subs made it a project with their kids.
Totally agree and was not trying to be a jerk. Would be a great project and I think it is cool what you did. Replicas can be purchased for about $85 via other approved vendors for those individuals that don't have access to a work area or the ability to get the product. Looks very cool. Did not mean to insult. Thanks.
Default So the primer is basically a layer that prepares the item to hold your paint. Without it the paint likely won't stick to the helmet for long. Thanks for watching!
