I cheat and use washable pens to mark where I'm going to do the quilting. I made a quilted binder and about died. It was my own pattern though so I could only blame myself

At the moment I am sewing a 2.1 m x 3.3 m rug out of old clothes for my dining room - probably not suitable as a DIY gift 😅but it certainly keeps me busy. I have never sewn anything that large. You can pin in the center also or hand baste. I would start quilting from the center and work out with your project. You are doing great. I would start the binding in the center of the side,not in the corner.
