Thank you so much for all your helpful information. I have a couple questions. First do you not find it necessary to sand the tumblers first? Also you use hard mod podge, do you feel you get better results then with regular mod podge?
@MinderellaCreations

Joann Wehrenerg I just posted a video about how I do sand to prep now. I like using Epoxy.

So you only need one coat of epoxy if you are not doing a decal? If doing a decal, then only one more coat over that and whole cup? Just want to clarify 1 or 2 coats, if 1 is enough. Thank you - Michelle
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 4 года назад
It depends. You want it smooth prior to decal. Sometimes it takes one coat and sometimes 2. I usually do only 1 after decal unless there’s an issue and o need another. 😊

can u use silicon brushes with epoxy or will it harden? I'm thinking if u keep dipping in water it will keep it from hardening. Or keep changing the silicon brus. I am ordering some and just wanted to determine how many sets to get Hope this isn't a stupid question. I have never worked with epoxy before.
@MinderellaCreations

IamDeirdre Epoxy cannot be mixed with water. You can use silicone brush with Epoxy and then just pop the epoxy off after it hardens.

@MinderellaCreations

Not a whole lot...I generally used either Dishwasher safe or Hard coat mod podge. The biggest thing is letting it dry fully. You'll cover it with epoxy, so the type of mod podge isn't too important.

Does it matter if you use the lighter color of glitter on top or bottom? If I did silver and magenta, I’d use the silver (lighter) on top or bottom?
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 5 лет назад
Jackie Copenhaver It’s easier to cover the lighter with the darker and blend so I usually do the darker last. Lighter first.

Could you put vinyl down on the cup first then do the modge podge and once it's done drying peel off the vinyl so you have stainless showing then epoxy over it?
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 6 лет назад
Adela Gutierrez Yes, you can do that. You’ll want to remove the vinyl immediately after you finish mod podge so it’s still wet.

Any hobby store. I use the 1 inch flat paint brush to apply mod podge now, or use epoxy (finger) or use finger method for mod podge and brush smooth. The one I use to brush excess off is a stencil brush...stiff bristles.

How do you keep the epoxy from going over the rim to the inside of the cup and if that happens how do you get it off?
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 6 лет назад
I usually tape off the top and bottom of my cups. On the ones that I do full coverage, I bring the epoxy just up to the rim, but not over it. I take a little epoxy on my gloved finger and run it on the top of the glitter and press down so it just seals it in.

@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 6 лет назад
Carol Ebenal electrical tape yes 👍🏻 Pull when wet at a sharp angle away from glitter and almost bend tape so it cuts it.
@CEbenal
@CEbenal 6 лет назад
Thank you! I pulled after everything was dry. On to try again :)
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 6 лет назад
If it's completely dry it tends to get brittle. But if you pull immediately after the second coat is applied, it's still seems pliable enough and if you pull down at a sharp angle it almost "cuts" it...so it keeps your sharp edge. :) If you use the epoxy method, you would pull tape immediately after applying as well...epoxy gives you more work time since it doesn't cure as fast as the mod podge dries.

my question is more about epoxy than glittering....I keep my house super cold at all times like 69 degrees. will that affect my epoxy?? do you use a heat lamp or anything? I don't think I've seen one in your videos... not sure if home temp is a factor...
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 6 лет назад
Jennifer Moya That will absolutely affect your epoxy. Cold causes it to cure slower as well as ripple. Your work area needs to be no less than 75. We keep our house about 75/76. The warmer it is the quicker it will cure. But you don’t want it curing too quick or it’ll be brittle.
@jennhtx88
@jennhtx88 6 лет назад
I might have to move my station to the garage for the epoxy stages then because it definitely rippled my very first "practice" cup last night and yes it took foreeeeevveeer to cure lol should I sand first and then apply the second coat or might the second coat cure evenly without sanding if moved to a warmer environment?
@MinderellaCreations
@MinderellaCreations 6 лет назад
If it's rippled a TON, I would probably go ahead and sand a little bit, as long as it's thick enough you won't hit the glitter. Then, wipe it down with 100% acetone gently, but thoroughly enough to get any specs and oil off and then apply another layer of epoxy. :)

Ahhh, yes, in a lot of my videos you will see I use wax paper under it to catch the overpour and I put it back into the jar. If it mixes, I just save it and use it as a mix for something. The size of your container determines how many cups you cant do. You can do several cups with only one ounce of glitter. Like 2-4 depending upon coats.
