Thanks, Nejc. I understand the process for making the large template for the face and the heels, but I don't quite understand the relationship to the small template. The small template has to shape the correct angles to align with the heel facets on the large template.

The thing with all the angles on it is called a Protractor in English.

In your video you wrote 45mm from right to left, making it 54mm - I have never seen it done that way. Please explain.

I messed up saying 45 but it was actually 54. My bad. English is not my native language.

Thank you so much for the video! I understand the geometry of the large template but I don’t know how to apply it to the small roughing out template. I have been struggling for some time now to achieve a parallel heel. Can you please explain how you use the geometry to make The smaller template? And with both made will it achieve a parallel heel? Any help would be so great appreciated as I am completely stuck. Thank you!
@nejcmazej1129
@nejcmazej1129 4 года назад
The geometry of the small templates for relief facets must equal the geometry of big template for heels. You match these two and you get parallel heel. Geometry is yours to choose, just apply it to both templates.

I appreciate your explanation but wonder why cant we just use a 90 degree holder and put something under each side of it to change angles? I also wonder if we could get rid of the length gauge by having a template at set angles with a good base. Put the blank in with something quick, say a vice grip type setup but smaller, and when it hits the stone or wheel it is automatically at the correct angle. Again one could have a wedge to change the angle a bit to remove the proper length if so desired. It seems to me that would be quicker than the length checking.

Hi . Thank you for this video. It's very interesting. I would want to ask you a question. How do you choose the angles 40° and 15° ? Why do you choose these values ?

Hi Nejc, just wanted to say thank you for all the information in your videos, truly inspiring. I would like to ask a question I regards to the Lindsay sharpening templates that you use, do the angles on the larger template match the angles on the smaller roughing out template in correlation to the heel section, eg. On the 116degree larger template is that the same on the smaller template? Any information would be greatly appreciated
@nejcmazej1129
@nejcmazej1129 5 лет назад
Go on airgraver site and I think you have all the info about they're 116 degree Graver. You just have to read there. I learned everything there.

And what are the dimensions of the small template to the large one. I correctly understood-the tip is 130 degrees and from the center, on two sides by = 25 mm. The side of the flat edge from the center is 25 mm (right? Or another size) And what is the radius of the two upper ones or their length In mm Please tell me!
@billbarrett582
@billbarrett582 3 года назад
I imagine you could use a compass to match and transfer the radius over.

its call protactor i believe.. hahah thanks for the video.. i was almost going to spend $200 on some plastic graver templates sold on Lindsay Graver site.. ill try making it myself now.. i was wondering what Lindsay graver templates you own and where do you buy your graver blanks?
@nejcmazej1129
@nejcmazej1129 7 лет назад
Thanks for the comment. i have 2 Lindsay templates.. universal 116, and flat&knife combo. i use to buy graver blanks from Lindsay (square), but now i buy round ones from company Hoffmann. Thanks for watching, Enjoy
@allenl9214

Nejc Mazej hi Nejc, would you be able to give me the template dimensions for the 116 universal?
@nejcmazej1129
@nejcmazej1129 7 лет назад
Sorry i can't. It's patented and all and i don't think i can just share these things for free. You suppose to buy that to have that. This is why i made this video and THIS IS FREE. If you know the lindsay templates are 116degrees and approx. 12 degree lift then you have all the info you need to make it. The other dimentions are irelavante-it's just cosmetisc. So make a 32 degree angle on both sides to make a 116 degree graver. Its simple and basic math. Just follow my video to make the template and make it yourself. Enjoy

You can bay the templts on Ebay for 3-4 Euro depending of the dimensions, search for SSH 3X3, to find 3X3 mm blanks.

Hi there, amazing what you are doing. I 'll try to copy the things you showed. 2 questions: Where did you order the 3mm round carbide steel rods? How long is the hard plastic tube you put over the rod to be sure the rod is ...mm ? Thnx advance man
@nejcmazej1129
@nejcmazej1129 6 лет назад
I ordered rods in a shop near me. These are lathe round tools.. Carbide and cobalt steel rods 3mm.. The plastic is 30mm long. Hope that helps. Enjoy
@billbarrett582
@billbarrett582 3 года назад
Ideally it shouldn't matter how long it is. The geometry should be the same if you use the measurements of what you have.
