My Life Is A Fucking Comedy Yes. You can make your wrap as long as you like. Even beyond the length of your hair. Once your hair is covered just continue wrapping around the threads. If you feel it’s becoming thin juts cut a thread and cut a new thread or two, fold in half and tie a little square knot to secure and continue. I recommend cutting three times the length you’d like your wrap to be. Maybe a tiny bit more to be safe. 9 strands gives the best thickness. You don’t have to use 9 colors. Use any multiple of your colors to reach 9. Gather hair on the scalp about the size of nickel and tie a knot around the hair. Hold all threads down with the hair, tie a square knot to secure and wrap around both hair and threads. I did hair wraps and braids professionally for nearly 15 years. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. 😁
As a kid I went to the beach every summer and always wanted them but they are expensive. $1.50 an inch and I've always had very long hair so it adds up quick so my parents never let me get them. When I got older I taught myself how and my friends constantly wanted me to do them. Now my daughter wants them but I haven't done one in 20 years! Just did one and let's just say I'm way out of practice
My mum used to do these for me - it’s called embroidery thread and you DO NOT NEED TO CUT THEM OUT . The other girls cut theirs out but my Mum unraveled mine
Omg thank u. Ive beem dying to add color and dread like look to my hair but my hair is so fine and thin and breaks off so im terrified to get extentions or dreads or anything dramatic like highlights
I've been looking for something like this forever. I wanted to make them myself too. This video is fantastic, just what I was looking for! :D Thank you so so much!!! :D
The Vikings been a rocking dreads for a LONG LONG TIME n they white sooo...it’s just a hair style they also rocked different braids, no one race can claim a hairstyle like seriously...🤦🏻♀️ you be offended by everything if we all wanted to endorse exclusion, that was the whole point of ending segregation.... was it not? If so then how bout straighten your black hair not culturally sensitive...see how that sounds? But people think white people cant be respected that way cuz white people years ago enslaved people, well guess what, my family was poor n lived in north and interracial with Native American and Scandinavians we didn’t slave anybody so you can’t be applying that to every white person, I don’t even consider myself “white” cuz “white is lack of color” “color” I am dark medium olive skin tone because of my Native American ancestors, we weren’t enslaved as much as we where just “GENOCIDE” so THINK about it, black people are not the only people who had braided hair, or dreads, this is actually way more Viking than black, LOOK IT UP. DUCES!!!
I have been searching the internet for the micro pony braids for the last 20 minutes and can't find anything that's close. Can you advise manufacturer or where you got them?
If you put a small piece of scotch tape on the end of your string/thread, it would act like a needle and make it easier to go thru beads/shells and you wouldn't need a toothpick
I really enjoyed this video I only wish I could find the micro braids, this is what I found on Amazon just a minute ago. I hope its the same thing or close enough to work with. I love the hair wraps I am a senior citizen and still enjoy wearing them. :) "Micro Braid / Micro Knot Braid Color: 1B by GMBSHair"
*** warning long comment. New subscriber *** 💜💜 Thank you so much for taking time to show us how you made these. You really did a wonderful job on demonstrating, and explaining everything. 👍 I LOVE this look! And, I REALLY, really, love that you used affordable items from dollar $ store, & craft stores. It really helps. Especially for newbies like myself doing DIY hair extensions. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a project, if I mess it up and have to scrap it all. (Crossing my fingers that will NOT happen) I am hoping to add lighter pieces into my hair. 2 days ago I went from natural strawberry blond, to Purple Amethyst 😮💜😮 So, I found a bag of super long blond hair (extra never used) from my 1st time getting extensions (professionally. Not DIY) I'm going to upcycle these blond pieces and use your video to add yarn. I'm using 'day-glo' neon pink yarn. Again, thank you so much. Peace, love, and blessings. 🔮🌜💜🌟
what is the actual name of the product from Michaels? I didn't see the link anywhere for it and I love it. I have looked on line at Michaels and still cant find it. Can you put a link to that product or a close up of the material. Thanks
I wish I had watched this before I spent 6th 7th and 8th hour at school doing one in my hair since the only time I see my other friends who like them at summer camp
I love reading the comments. Whenever you see a comment about cultural appropriation, you have people saying its not. Yet there are so many up here that don't even know where to get the microbraid hair. When you say beauty supply store they think sallys. Hmmm thats interesting. Well let me help you out, you have to go to the BLACK neighborhood beauty supply stores to find the hair. Lmao!
I live in Dayton Ohio and our dollar stores sell packaged braids and hair. Not the Dollar Tree stores, but the family dollar and dollar general. I guess it depends on where you live.
U don't even have to use extensions u can use ur own hair and un do it at the time u won't (I had to use my hair too and I think it looks more realistic)
you can actually use yarn or crafting cord (aka thin paracord) as your base-- what she was doing is actually what is used in making paracord bracelets and belts only she was just going on the one side instead of both ways--hope that helps you--
Check my video Boho bracelets you going to love it, is your style I love your video I sent to my Granddaughter she love your lipstick and she want your extensions very bad an going to do it for her thanks!
Thank you! I've made myself a couple with the friendship string and I felt they were too thin and I had wanted a couple thicker ones, but I wasn't quite sure what to use as a base. I have a couple dreadlock extensions that I bought and just don't like how they ended up looking, they're perfect as a base plus they have the loops already and now they won't be going to waste. Thanks again! 💜
You can pretty much use anything that is comparable to the braids in width and length such as yarn, embroidery floss, hemp cord/string, non-braided hair extensions, suede cord, and the list goes on and on. You can also use any kind of clip to attach the extension to your hair or no clip at all. It really just depends on the kind of staying power you are looking for. I personally prefer to avoid the clip all together and simply leave a loop at the top so I can braid the extension into my hair.
I make these for festivals, they’re a great alternative to wrapping them straight into the hair. So quick to put in the hair and reusable, and last for years, rather than just a few weeks. 🌸🌺🌸🌺
Oooh, thank you! And I LOVE that necklace of yours (as well as the one I've just seen in a few of your other videos)! May I ask where you got it, and if you have a link for it..? Thanks so much!
Muy bonitas las hice y me encantan pero te pregunto qué puedo hacer para que la hebilla quede firme y no se me bajen. Se me caen y tengo que estar ajustando la hebilla a cada rato
I was wondering what the name of the store is called that sells the braided hair?? I've looked online and in stores everywhere near me and can't find them anywhere!! Thanks!
burning the end only works on synthetic fibers, the idea being that it melts the strands together. It does not work for natural fibers like cotton or wool.
It’s not a big deal! No one is perfect she can call it whatever she wants I got mine done and it is made with yarn all of my friends came with me and there’s is made with yarn
