I was in need of some lighting on either side of my bed. Having a low platform-style bed (made from recycled palettes) I wanted an option that did not clutter around my bed and something that would carry the eye up. Hanging pendants were the way to go! These lights look beautiful, were very easy to make and do the trick without having to hardwire any electrical. I love the simplicity and the natural texture of the white ceramic pots. The gold hardware adds an element of elegance.
What you will need to recreate this project
○ 4" Ceramic Plant Pots (I got mine from a local plant store)

Thanks for sharing. I have been searching for weeks for a project similar to this, only it's for pendant lighting over my small island in my kitchen. My problem is that the ceiling over my island is also where the hvac ductwork is located so I needed a light weight lite fixture that I could use 3M tape nail to put them on the ceiling. Your ceramic pots are perfect. I am gonna make three of these using all the same material only my chains and loops will be white to match my kitchen. Thanks again your pendant lights are beautiful! I will video my project too.

How do you change the batteries? Did I miss something? You glued the light to the cardboard maybe adhesive Velcro would do the trick. Everything else is great!!!
@VanessaCreates
@VanessaCreates 2 года назад
You twist the light off and the back stays glued to the cardboard but the puck light comes out.

Nice idea, however, being that you caulked the puck light in place, how do you plan on changing the batteries?
@VanessaCreates
@VanessaCreates 2 года назад
Hi Christy! I can twist it off! So the backing of the puck light stays in the fixture but the puck light itself comes out, I can easily change the batteries and twist it back into place!

Great idea , only one little mistake the toggle bolt goes in the opposite way so when you tighten it sits flash on sheet rock 😊

@VanessaCreates

Fair point! You can always patch it up 🙂
@SheCitrine
@SheCitrine 2 года назад
Do you recommend self adhesive swag hooks ?
@VanessaCreates
@VanessaCreates 2 года назад
I’ve never used them! The lights I made aren’t super heavy, maybe like 1-2lbs but I would be concerned with the constant pull on the hooks. I did look online for you and there are self-adhesive ceiling hooks that can hold up to 4lbs. If you have a smooth ceiling, I’d say give it a try (it’s always fun to make something even if it doesn’t work out) but if you have any sort of texture or popcorn ceiling, the self-adhesive hooks won’t stick. Let me know if you decide to try or not :)

@@VanessaCreates yay !! Thanks for the inspiration and looking up for these details..so kind of you. I will definitely try out with self adhesive hooks. 😍💞

Hello, I would like to buy a drill and the nail sets but I’m so green and have no idea on how to pick the best one that would suit a beginner while being able to do all the necessary work - Kindly advise 🤗
@VanessaCreates
@VanessaCreates 2 года назад
Hi Edith! Honestly, when starting out, any drill is a good drill! Just make sure it's both a drill and driver (this gives you more options). Cordless is always super handy as you can move around and not get tangled! I have a Milwaukee M18 ½” Compact Brushless Drill/Driver which I really love! I have heard good things about the Dewalt DC970K-2 18-Volt Drill/Driver, as an entry-level drill. I think the bits are more important, making sure they are fresh and the correct one for the job (for example in this DIY I used a specialty ceramic bit) Before you start your project do a bunch of practice drilling with your matterials, to get the hang of it! Don't be afraid to hold it tight and put your body into it. What do you mean by nail sets?

@@VanessaCreates Thank you Vanessa , this is very helpful and I’m actually sourcing the items to try this DIY for my small dining space . Re the nails sets , I meant nails in general I have seen the screw nails with those plastic things that hold them in the wall . Do I buy those separately or do they come with the drills .Thank you for taking the time to reply btw 🤗🤗

You can twist the top of the puck light out, the backing with the batteries stays glued to the cardboard/plant pot. You can replace the batteries and twist the top back into place ☺️

How much did it cost total for each? 😊🙏🏻
@VanessaCreates

Roughly $25 per light, not including the batteries for the lights.

build a dam with glazing putty and fill it with water before you drill... your bit will last longer and it will save you time. oggle goes the other way unless you like things falling out when they are not supposed to.

I noticed that too…I think it’s when women try to lower the voice too much. Kind of like when Britney Spears smoked to get that effect.
