Actually changing the entire valve cover since it developed a crack. Shop wanted $420 to replace a $175 part, lol. EDIT: finished. Started up with an error code, because I forgot to plug a sensor back in, LOL! Double check your work, people! Haha. Thanks for the demo. (BTW, I did it on a 2016 / 10th Gen civic, but the process was basically exactly the same)

just a little tip, please be careful when removing the rear screws, i lost one because it fell behind the engine and was never able to find it, also be really careful with tightening them, i messed up and broke a bolt off, now i have to buy an extractor set and a drill to fix this issue.
Sorry to hear that! Ya they are small 10mm bolts that don’t take much to tighten up! Good luck with the extraction I’m sure it come out easy since you just had them out! 👍
@@radnplaid8083 my man, for me I would have wrapped small yarn around the bolt when tried to put it back for retrieving if felt somewhere in the engine. I’m not mechanic. I just fixed small issue in my car only.
Thanks buddy, i did it some time back. Rear bolts are pita. Some tips to remove the battery negative before starting the work, and making sure the gasket didnt come out while seating the valve cover especially the right side is tricky where the pipe connects. Mine came out a little bit and got misfire and codes. Had to remove and do it again.
Great video, but skip the music next time. And weird how he doesn't use black nitrile gloves when he's working with such a messy task. You can get a box a a couple hundred of them for dirt cheap. Beats all the grueling hand scrubbing and fingernail cleaning afterward without them.
I was thinking the same thing. Valve cover bolts, are supposed to be torqued to spec. Also in a certain sequence depending on the engine. Otherwise great video.
For L15A (Jazz/Fit) Tighten the bolts in two or three steps. In the final step tighten all bolts, in sequence, 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 8.7 lbf·ft). Start tightening with bolt in middle front-back and criss cross left-right end bolts are last.

Especially ppl like me trying 2 fix a messed up car on ur own bcuz ppl don't want 2 help or act like a mechanic. 😆 😆 plus if ppl want 2 claim they're a mechanic but guess on what's wrong. I can do that & RU-vid what might be wrong & change pieces on my own instead of paying ppl 2 do stuff i can do. Just make great detailed video's & the watchers will come. URGENT, What are the blue connectors called that are visible clearly in the video once you removed the valve cover? I got water in mine I need to know if that's bad
@@radnplaid8083 i also noticed when I took the valve cover off the left front middle bolt was broken prior to me messing with it. Should I be worried about it leaking from it missing just one bolt or do I have time to figure out a way to get it out and put a new one in?
@@thomasbradley5419 you may get away with it for a while but eventually it will leak. But it it don’t leak after the first 10 miles probably be ok for a while
@@radnplaid8083 I do have the same engine as the vehicle in your video I used ultra grey from permatex and I put some around the area of which the bolt was missing but I didn't do a stupid amount I used the top of a flathead screwdriver to push it in between the plastic and the engine casings
