This is awesome and has given me a great Idea, but there is something I don't understand. Why do you connect the wire to the end of the metallic wire support instead of the other end of the hot wire? Does it mean the whole angled metal piece is electrified or gets warm? isn't it dangerous to touch?
That is all pretty dangerous. It’s a low voltage power supply, but even so, those wire connections are.. just bad. And yes the whole metal rail structure will be powered also.. so cover that with something. Or make it out of wood and make the arm longer..
OK I built one of these and here is some feedback for you....If you make the wire too short it glows red hot and catches the foam on fire. If you use to small of a spring it doesn't conduct well. When the wire gets hot it expands and gets floppy.Good luck
Have a question I wonder if you can answer. Have an old CPU power supply, got the jumper in for the green and black wire, but the other plug is not the prong type, but one that goes onto the circuit board itself so I cannot take my two wires coming off the Nichrome hookup and push them into the red & black as you did. Could I just snip these two wires at the female plug coming off the power supply and tie them to the two coming off the Nichrome wire? Seems like it should be the same, but am not familar with these type of plugs.....just want to make sure. Thanks
It would be safer than jamming wires into things they aren't made for just like the jumper should not be just an exposed piece of wire like that. Someone is gonna get hurt if they make it like this
Hey Easy DIY Miniature, Good day to you. This DIY Hot Wire Foam Cutter for handicraft in 20 minutes was AWESOME!! Thank you for sharing. Take care, wishing you a Wonderful, Fun, Creative, and Happy New Year. Peace & Joy. Back to more videos :P
I'm assuming that the black & green wire jumper is to turn on the power supply. And I assume that the black & red wire are hooked to the 12 volt power supply. Is that correct?
hi, i wonder if you can help me to fix mine, if i connect the power suply with the foam cutter the power supply doesnt start, but if i disconnect red and black wire, it's works ... :/
That looks good and quite simple to make. But electricity goes through all the metal parts which are exposed. And the metal parts probably get (very) hot too, not only the wire. Did somebody make a safer version?
What are in millimeters the dimensions of three steel angle brackets which became folded? What is in millimeters size of bolts and nuts used for these angles? Thanks for answers.
Would you please tell me that how can I make Styrofoam ball (like cricket ball) of different sizes using Styrofoam cutter? Would you please make a tutorial on it?
Ultra Delete 20 minute hot wire phone cutter! All you need is a piece of wood, some wire, and some electrical engineering skills learned at the junior college over the course of one and a half semesters!
