A quick tip that works well for me, try using your electrical tape in the reverse direction, in other words, go over the top away from you and come up in the front and over and away from you over the top. I think it gives much better stretch control amd is much easier to manage. I learned this as a young apprentice working for the phone company.
I did it last year, but I couldn't mention any difference in performance. It's just a marketing trick. Moldable Cosplay Foam Clay (White) - High Density and Hiqh Quality for Intricate Designs | Air Dries to Perfection for Cutting with a Knife or Rotary Tool, Sanding or Shaping a.co/d/1hbRDi1 It makes sense only if you build a heavier paddle and need to distribute some weights (lead fishing weight or bullets) somewhere around the edges, you can push them into the foam inside of the cells.
As of now I'm using a 0.6" polypropylene honeycomb, 8.5mm cell size with fiberglass textured skin from the Plascore company of Michigan. If you want to try and need a piece of core then go to my website. www.val-paddles.com/store/build-to-order
@@valeridrachev2628 You are awesome! .. thank you. I'll be sure to spread the word... as avid tennis player and dipping into pb I can't wait to get started on this paddle build.. thanks again!!!
If you can’t find 3/8” plywood, use 1/4” plywood. These are nonconforming beginner paddles. Keep in mind you will be hitting a lightweight “wiffle ball” at relatively slow speeds. You won’t need much mass to move the ball in an opposite direction. The expensive paddles are made from a lightweight honeycomb material (extremely low mass).
thank you!! ... I'm looking at how to referb or level up existing paddles but man that hexpoly or lightweight honey comb is expensive .. I see why super nice lightweight paddles cost what they do
thank you for posting these videos!! so awesome to see you making these. this was exactly what i was looking for. me and some friends want to start a pickleball paddle company and just figuring out how to make them and such. we want it to be all American made. how can i get in contact with you? i'm sure you have tons of wisdom to share! thanks in advance! -ethan
@@pauldejesus9644 Yes, it's crazy. 3 years ago I paid $560, but last time a month ago $1020. I'm going to retire from making paddles. It's been my hobby for 4 years, not a business.
Sorry, I never use a T700 carbon fiber skin on my paddles. A few years ago I wanted to try carbon fiber skins on my composit 6mm "slim" paddles, but it was very expensive and too thick for my project. Instead, I was using a 9.5mil polypropylene sheets different colors. I used 3m 77 spray glue to bond it to the aluminum skin of Alumalite composite core. For carbon fiber skin you may try 3m 71 spray or similar.
A few weeks ago I made the first batch of the carbon fiber paddles from a 16mm core with carbon fiber skins. The carbon fiber skins are factory built on top of the PP honeycomb core by the Plascore company of Zeeland MI. The core is of high quality and will not be delaminated. Check out the description, all information is there
Yes, the polypropylene honeycomb core is the core used by major companies to make pickleball paddles. The thickness (10-20mm), cell size (8 or10 mm), and a paddle face skin type (carbon fiber, graphite, fiberglass, polycarbonate, and etc.) are the only differences. The cell size and thickness will define the dense of the core. The smaller cell size and/or thinner the core the more dense the core will be. The density of the core and the type of the skin will define the ball bounce (hard or soft) and the time the ball stays on the paddle(long or short) allowing you to contol and spin.
Here is the link to my website where you can pick up the paddle from a bunch of the paddles I have already built and they are ready for shipping, or I can build a custom paddle for you in 2 days. As of now I have 3 types of shapes and a 16mm PP core with glass epoxy or carbon fiber skins. www.val-paddles.com/ DBall Paddles. He as anyone thought the way our paddles are 'held, grip' totally wrong and cause wrist injuries due to angle its held and play?? Seen someone tried to 'invent' a new way of handles?
