Video shows how to set or change settings of a gas thermostat for heating or cooling between degree Celsius to Fahrenheit or other settings like Lock Unlock, Filter, SL, F etc. If following the steps in owner's manual doesn't work then try this method. Honeywell, White-Rogers, dico or other brands may work. Hope this helps but remember this video doesn't cover all makes of thermostats.

Brilliant! I have a Sears branded thermostat with the exact same look and buttons, and this worked perfectly. I wish I had known how to do this years ago!

I had to turn our system off and then turn it back to heat in order to get it out of some other programming cycle that wouldn’t let this proceed. Once I did that, it went exactly as in this video, although I was changing to C. Thanks.

Yes, I have the same issue. "Hold" does not go through different settings.... Did you find a solution yet?

@@webknows in the end I found the solution that worked for me. But it involved opening the thermostat, and cutting a wire. It is somewhere on the left, and has the number w904 written next to it. I found out by calling the manufacturer on the phone. I got connected with tech support, and that guy told me to cut the wire. It also means it can't be reversed, but I am ok with that.

I know what might work, or at least it did for me: take off the cover plate. Then on the left-hand side there is a little wire that is soldered on both ends, it says W904. Cut that wire, turn the thermostat off and on, and it'll be in Celcius. If it is in Celcius and you want Fahrenheit, you may need to reconnect it somehow. I wanted Celcius, cutting it worked for me.
