In this video, I show you How to measure windows for screen, where to get window screen, and how to (diy) do it yourself window screen the easy way. How to cut and install your own window screen for any size window.
Thank you for this, single mom with 3 little boys and I watched about 10 videos. Your video was straight forward, easy, and I got 2 screens with frames on 🙌 thank you
I applaud you in your efforts to demonstrate how to make a screen. I will give you some additional information and perhaps you can make another video with some revisions. In that particular type of window it would be advantageous to insert tension sliding springs on the top of the window screen and pull tabs in the bottom. This way your screen fit snug and with the addition of the pull tabs removal is a breeze... The tool that you are using is a screen roller with one end being convex and the other being concave. Essentially this is intended to screen in a much thicker screen such as a 80 or 90 % polyester or fiberglass solar screen as in these cases a tool with both convex and concave features are necessary. The rubber that you see in this what appears to be a 3/4 inch aluminum frame is what we refer to as spline. There are several sizes of spline such as 103,115,125,140 this depends on the with of the channel on the frame. For example i like to use a 103 easy to fit spline on my 1 inch by 5/16 aluminum frame. You should never cut the spline in the frame rather take it out. You will eventually have to do this anyway. Siccors is what you might use to cut the spline after it is properly fit into the screen. I would highly recommend not to cut with the sharp edge of the utility blade towards the screen as you may inadvertently cut the fresh screen you just assembled. Instead cut or trim away with the blade pointing towards the aluminum frame. It is always a better idea to screen roll with the tool towards you rather than away from you. If you need any more advice please feel free to message me . Thank you and job well done
Dude! This is too cool! My friend and neighbor needs all new screens and has needed them for years now. She is going to go bonkers over this information. Thanks so much!
Great job, I've put many screens in my lifetime. My first apartment I was 17 years old, and I put my first screen in. I still remember after all these years.😊
Great video! Pace, time, instruction, visuals, etc. were easy to follow and perfect for what I need. I actually love that you didn't use a fancy table because I don't own one. Thank you!
AHHH, now I can enjoy the crisp night air AND not have worry about the cat jumping out of the window, here him cry about wanting to come back in IMMEDIETYLY then subsequently have to go find him as I walk around the block saying 'HEEEEERE KITTY KITTY KITTY KITTY KITTY KITTY! ANOOONTONIOOO! C'MERE BABY KITTY!' 😑 Great tutorial, simple, straight forward and to the point. +1
Chad, you definitely have a knack for clearly and concisely giving instructions. I’ve seen that look your wife gave you when you suggested she could do it…”Seriously, dude?” I’ll bet after the picture was taken, she turned that hose on you. 😂
Well done, young man! Great instructive video for the everyday DIYer. Glad to see you stay strapped up at all times. And gotta say... LOVE the channel shirt!! Love that you're supporting your local businesses...I know they're usually a little more expensive (sometimes lots more) but it's a good thing to do! Take care, be safe and God bless! 🇺🇸
It was wonderful seeing a video of how to make a screen. Also mentioning about making mistakes and video about the solutions about mistakes is brilliant! Thank you.
You make that job look so easy. Great instructions and excellent job. Hope your whole family is doing great and all your animals too. Take care and God Bless y'all always
You can not underestimate the value of screens when you live in da U.P. We were up at the cabin Memorial Weekend and decided to let the mosquitoes have the cabin till July. Thanks for the video!!!
Yayy I need to do this with some of my windows that need screens!! Thank you for sharing!! I hope the family is doing well! till next time take care and be safe out there!! ❣❤❣
In retrospective, i am glad you made the move from the first homestead to this one. You would all have exhausted yourselves trying to resurrect the wreck it effectively was.
I used to make screens at a hardware store I worked for and the roller we used was made out of steel with ball bearing in the wheel. The ones they sell now don't work anything like professional tools do. We never used plastic screen material. Only aluminum or some kind of unknown metal for gold screens or doors
Listen Chad i was a contractor for 45 yrs and I never made a mistake so I'm sure you are the same way. Just remember never ever admit mistakes lol and make sure your nose isn't growing while your telling little fibs!!! So now if you believe me I've got ocean front property for sale in Colorado lol!!! By the way love the video as always.
It looks like you do that for a living. Very good job. I know when UP The blackflies will carry you away in the mosquitoes will follow you and eat what’s left keep the videos coming very entertaining love your new place. Looks like heaven
Great video! I need to make a few screens for our front porch since the windows are all missing them. I do have a nice steel roller I bought many years ago for rolling. BTW I haven’t been getting notices from RU-vid of your uploads for some reason, although I have notifications turned on🤷. Take care and hope you all are doing well 😊
You're a man with many talents Chad. Keep up the good work. I also like that you carry a side arm to protect your family and property. What do you carry. Todd from da U.P.
When I do a layout job like this I usually lay a 4'x8' sheet of ply wood on the porch banister. Just a suggestion. I'm older than dirt, bending over is not one of my better activities. I keep a sharp eye out for you videos. You are making some major memories with you daughters. Lots of dads don't realize girls make good mechanics, hunters, and fish catchers too. And they DON'T bring an over filled EGO to the range, garage, or bass boat. 😉
I had a really good idea how to do this honey dew project. But, I did learn something from this video that being, the best way to roll the screen into the frame is starting from the middle. Main reason for the comment and subscribe is it took me until pretty much the end of the video to notice the glock that's on your hip🤘👊(I think it's a glock but I could be wrong)..
@9252LIFE I used to have a glock 19 Gen 5. Before I bought it, I did a ton of research and the reasons why I decided to go with glock because I couldn't find a bad review with it, and supposedly 9mm is the most common and used bullet around the world. But I bought it at like the worst time, right before Biden became president, all the stores around here couldn't keep any ammo didnt matter what caliber on the shelf, and 9mm was 1 of 2 of the fastest selling cal ammunition around here And of course, the gun I bought before the glock was an AR....so there i was. I had these two amazing firearms that I could pretty much only look at. before the ammo situation got any better, somebody stole my pistol from out of my pickup. Fuck, I loved that pistol.
You should of explained the rollers the rounded one is to press the screen in the groove on the frame and the roller with the curved edge is to roll the rubber into the groove to hold the screen in ! That is how i learned before they had those cheap synthectic screen material back even before the had the aliminium srcreen ! I was taught by ace hardware back iun the late 70's !
The only thing I don't like about those kits is the spline is in 4 pieces instead of one continuous piece. I'll buy the spline (be certain you get the right diameter, there are a few different sizes) and use it instead. Home Depot has some killer online how to videos I think by Phifer. If you buy the frame in 6 ft lengths you get it for less than $5 a piece per window (a 20 pack). You're cutting it anyway so it saves you some money. You can buy the corners and other parts in bulk if you're doing all your windows and get each window down to about 3/4 what the kits cost. But for one window you really can't beat the kit.
i dont know if youll see this.. but i need a 64 H x 30 W screen. i live in an apartment, which has weird windows. it doesnt have a mesh screen or a slot for it, but i am trying to diy one in the space i have. i am trying to keep my cat in and mosquitos out. do you have any suggestions or help? the window is also a push out window, where i need access to the lever. ive exhausted my resources in trying to find a cost effective solution. if you come across this and have any knowledge to send my way, i would appreciate it!
@@9252LIFE so next project will s power washing and sealing the deck? 🤣 That’s what I have to do at my sons. I lost my 30 year old daughter in law in December so now I’m a Mom again . Busy busy for this Grandma. Treasure each and every day 💗
Hebrews 4:16 King James Version 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Gods blessings over you !
"How to buy and assemble parts from a hardware store" I clicked the video in hopes to learn to "make" window screens, not cut and assemble bought parts. Either way, still a decent tutorial.
Because evil doesn’t stop for me to install window screens.. It’s like, why do you leave gas in your vehicles gas tank when it’s parked in your driveway? Because when you need to go somewhere in a hurry it’s already to go. 😆
I picture a “hillbilly” carrying a double barrel shotgun! 😂 I carry a firearm everywhere. If you’re offended you should check yourself. Have a great day!
