That is utterly amazing. How many times doing this and screwing it up before you finally became an expert? Because I gave up early, and from then on did simple buzzes when I cut it myself. For me, this is like watching Da Vinci paint the Mona Lisa. The skill on display, and everything--just pure art.

I want to replicate it, but I need more direction: the video speeds up to save time & I can't tell if you're holding the clipper tight to your scalp or scooping away; are the clippers open or closed; I can't tell what you're doing with the scissors. This is the exact haircut I want. Im a latina and when I told a hairdresser “I want it short on the side and longer on top.” I told her Im going from 2ft long hair to a short easier to manage look and she replied “Halle Berry”. Like bruh… i didnt say Pixie cut. I walked out the door 😆 been cutting my own hair for 20+ years. I cant trust others with my hair.

I know this is an old video, but I started cutting my own hair recently and I have a question. Is the Zero Guard necessary ? I've been giving myself a decent fade by doing 0(no guard , closed) ,1/4(no guard, slightly open ) , 1/2,(no guard fully open) 1 ,1.5 , 2 and 2.5 to blend my longest hair with the 2. However, I've seen many people using the Zero Guard and I was wondering if you could tell me if to does make a significant difference? Thanks , I appreciate your help and thanks for the videos.

Even tho the fade isn't perfect (by barber standards), it's very good. But wow. Takes a ton of practise, skill and confidence to cut your hair like that. Especially the lining up part, very easy to mess up. Massive thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.

I'm deciding whether I should cancel my hair appt this week due to the COVID-19 transmission risk (my mom works in the health field and has been telling me everyday that personal services like haircuts are high risk because of all the touching of the hair and face, as well as difficulty of sanitizing all surfaces and tools) so I think I might...just...stay home and try this? How do you cut/trim or otherwise shape the hair on the top? Is there some way you do it, or is it just looking and snipping?? It looks really good and "piece-y" (not bluntly cut...) yet structured somehow. I'm not sure if you accomplished that by design, or you just lucked out. Great cut!

Hi Heather. I know this is an old video posting, so hopefully you still read notes and comments from this posts. I purchased one of the Self Cut Systems, and I really like it. I also cut my own hair, and it does make it easier. My question to you is do you have a problem with the lights peeling off of the mirrors? It seems that the LED lights are warm enough that they soften the glue that holds them to the mirrors, and gravity peels them loose while I am cutting my hair. I was surprised when it happened the first time I used it, within 10 minutes of plugging it in. I sent a note immediately to the Self Cut System people via their link on-line, and have yet to hear anything from them. Just curious if my unit is faulty, or this is a problem with the way the units are manufactured. Please comment when you find the time. Thank you! - Dee (16 Aug 2017)

OK... So I tried and failed the first time... I had to kinda fashion my own mirror. I attached a smaller mirror to a full body mirror with a hinge... But I still had to have my husband clean it up.
