They make epoxy coated rebar for a longer lasting ring. Not that much more than uncoated. Do your regulations allow a third hoop? If they do it makes a more effective ring as when you pull it up the bottom bellies down and the crab can't go up and over the side as easily while you retrieve the hoop. Bottom hoop is the same size as the top. Heavier rebar stays put on the bottom as well. It is harder to bend so another way to accomplish the same thing is to double up the rings one on top of the other and weld them together. If you fish tidal areas with current it is good to do.
