DIY how to take out the stereo and fix the sound, 2004 Corolla Verso
How to disassemble the original stereo in a 2004 Toyota Corolla Verso.

Because of. loss of sound, from the stereo, I suspected that there was bad contact in the plugs on the back of the stereo. The sound came and went. And it sometimes helped to knock on the stereo.
For that, it was just to find the easiest way to disassemble the stereo and see if I found the error.
Upon inspection and cleaning of contacts, I unfortunately found no errors ...
But a new search online gave me yet another possible solution.
The problem is solder joints that are broken due to vibrations.
The 4 components that are screwed into the car body of the stereo must be soldered an extra round, so that contact is made again. Then the stereo should work again!
All single contact points, must be soldered separately as original!

Thank you, that really helped :) Two small notes: 1. Be careful when taking out the screws that fix the radios to the car, if you drop them, they are gone. Ask me how I know :) 2. When taking out the PCB, instead of just pulling it out slightly, disconnect the two ribbon cables, the one to the display has two small tabs left and right that you can pull. After that the cable just comes out. The one to the CD Player has a handy flap on the right side with to small screws. Just pull it out and push it back in later. Gives you the whole PCB for easy soldering.

Thank you very much Screws that fall into the center console are probably a lot of extra work to get out! See I have benefited a lot from long-magnet handles and long grip arms! Something you can just as well buy right away ... Suddenly you need such things. I think I need to make a little video about this!

Good day! Thank you very much for the feedback! Have tried to include even more info about tools and attraction etc. in several videos after this one. But really learned that it is important to bring out details when possible. Often difficult to get to with a camera, but this video was filmed with a mobile phone. I suddenly realized that someone else could benefit from it. Hope you and yours have a really good New Year when we get there in just a few days! Greetings Pål (Paul)

Thanks for the video. Fixed it 3 times, but due to being in the sun it sometimes stops working, if anyone does this i suggest adding a flexible wire connections to the transistors so it will always work and not behave like mine - in the sun does not work and in the evening works :D need to resolder again

Good day! Yes, there are a number of screws, before you get to the place it often becomes the fault of these players. Fortunately, the error is so easy to fix that many will be able to fix it themselves, or have friends who can help. Regards Pål

Sadly didn't work on mine. When I turn the volume knob the number doesn't change, and no sound.

Sorry it was a shame you did not make it work. If you are 100% sure that the soldering has contact, then there must be something else. I think I saw another video on RU-vid, about another error that could occur! Try a search, so maybe you will find more info about other solutions! Good luck!!

¡Buenas noches! ¿No recuerdo que hubiera una cámara en el video? Al principio se trataba de un receptor de radio DAB/digital, que recibía energía de la toma del cigarrillo. Saludo Pål (Pablo / Paul )

hello my toyota radio wont turn on i chek fuses ok, do you think same reazon?
@bildillamagasin
@bildillamagasin 4 года назад
Good day. Yes, I would start with checking the fuses sure, if the radio is completely dead. The radio in this Corolla, behaved strangely. It could be turned on. Sometimes the sound came, sometimes not. Sometimes everything looked just fine, other times there was something wrong with the lights and info on the screen. Everything then indicates that the fuse is fin, and I double checked it. It was absolutely fine. I then began to suspect that there was something wrong with the connectors on the back of the stereo. I dismantled it, to see if I could find a simple bug there. But everything seemed fin. Then the search for google started. And found several sources that together gave me the answer to the error described in this video. Vibrations over time, which have worn out the contact between some components and the printed circuit board on which they were mounted.

The plan is to continue building the RU-vid channel, with 2 new videos coming week! In order to run this the way I want, it is important that people give feedback on what they want more on the channel. And what should have been done better !!!! It is also important to get in touch with several car owners, who would like to know something about their car / project, on the channel. Preferably in central Norway in the first place. And it is very important to include more followers / subscribers! ru-vid.com Greetings Pål

It worked just fine on this car! The soldering is damaged due to vibrations in the stereo chassis. The solder is broken, and poor contact is made to the components that are screwed into the chassis. They are probably screwed in for better cooling of these components. But this proves to be a poor solution in due course. Many have tried this method and it works just fine :)
