DIY hydroponic system , hydroponic for beginners diy

I would rim the under tub with like a kills painted 2x4 frame with legs on the corners to stiffen the lower tub up to keep it from bulging. Then screw kills painted plywood strips to the 2x4 frame to make a sleeve to guide the top tub atop the bottom one. Then to really seal it up get a few pieces of the tube type black pipe insulation spilt sided with the peel off adhesive type. Then apply those to the rims of both of your tubs to create a gasket type seal between the two tubs. Plus the prior wooden frame will really snug all this together when your pipe insulation is applied to the rims. This way you just lift the top from the bottom no holes clamps screws just the frame holds it together and keeps everything lined up and snug.P.S. you may only want to “gasket” the lower tub rim so any water just runs off of the upper tub walls and back into the lower tub and off of that half circle inner side of the pipe insulation.

I just transplanted my own exotic hybrids into my newly invented mini solar-powered hydro drip system for rock wool blocks. Works great!

A few spring clamps should hold that together nicely, and be easy to remove.

I would run a silicon beed around the lip of the bottom container then use 6 to 10 construction clamps to seal it together while in use.

Take care. o7 About the lid i would over engineer it with a window rubber seal and 3D printed clips ^^ but from the two options you give, i'd go for the later, cut, and maybe keep some bits of the edge that you'd form with a heatblower to help keep it "centered" in the bottom part. I guess you'll see what i'm talking about ;) tbth i'm affraid cutting it and having the new edge resting on anything could result in weak point from where it may tear up... Nice job anyway i'm sure you'll figure the best option. Cya !

I would try a pool noodle with a cut down the long way to cover the edges of the reservoir

I would do a bead of silicone on the two halves and then zip screw them together. I feel like there's less of a chance of busting the whole lid that way

It would have been simpler to just do flood and drain, plus you would get better and faster growth. Bottom tray as the reservoir, the other tray sit it on the bottom tank. Put a pump on a timer pumping to the top tray for a certain time and drain back out to the bottom tank via same route. Put your pots in the top with grow pebbles in the pots. You need less components, less things to grow wrong, very simple and powerful method easier done. Good idea of putting the knowledge out though, it will help many to get up and running with a decent system.👍

If you choose to (screw) it down, I would opt for a cpl of bolts with nuts and washers rather then just a screw. This way you should beable to tighten the bolts down until the lids come together nice and flush. And you wont have points of screws sticking out underneath to stick yourself on at some point some how lol

next time get a cheap deburring tool my friend. 10 bucks for a lil tool that comes with like 100 deburring tools for metal and pvc/plastic. that grinder is a risk my friend.
