Hi Guys, welcome back to my channel :)
In this video I guide you through how mounted by BESTA IKEA TV Unit on to my wall. My wall is not a flat wall as I recently panelled my wall (see panelling vid link below).
I did not want to cut or damage my panelling and the gap between the bottom of the panels and my floor was too small.
So I had to find a way to make half the tv unit stick on the panels and half on the wall.
This was no easy task! As I needed to make sure the tv unit did not move side to side and also making sure it was at a consistent level.
Watch the full vid on how I made the IKEA unit my own and mounted the unit on to my wall!!
Thanks so much for watching guys!!

I recently just bought one of these and this is an excellent way to mount it. Thank you so much!

Good video I’ve had Shaker board applied to wall and have purchased 2 besta units to go wall to wall bought legs for it but definitely would prefer it on wall but wasn’t sure it would work so thanks for showing what to do not a big diy person but definitely worth a go now 😀

Just be very mindful of the amount of weight you put on/in this unit as the fixings are not going to hold in those walls with any sort of pressure or stress on them. Ideally you should have found the wooden (if that’s what it is) stud work and fixed to that or drilled into the block/brick work and anchored into that with some proper Rawl bolts. That’s how I fix media cabinets to internal walls, If it’s a studded internal wall I also like to use a fixing adhesive like ‘No more nails’ wherever the unit is in contact with the wall itself as this can act as a fail safe if the fixings come loose and breakaway there’s always the adhesive there as an extra anchor. I’ve fitted countless media walls and units as they’re popular at the min and the only thing I would advise is to always try to find the studs or fix to the masonry, I’ve known these things to fall off and make a huge costly mess. 😊

If finding the stud to fit perfectly isn't possible, another way is to put a 2x4 wood across the wall into the stud, and then drill the screws from the cabinet into the wood piece. The wood piece act as a continuous stud wall for the cabinet to hold. I also made a comment on the wrong bracket used above.

Do you have to find the studs on the wall to put the screws in to mount the tv unit?

Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. For this type of Besta, L brackets are definitely the best solution for mounting it on the wall. I have a couple of questions: What did you use to connect each side Besta (glue and/or screws)? Do you have any ideas to fill or erase the conjunction line between them to make it look like one piece?

Hi I’m glad you liked it :) L brackets are defos the best for this! So I used both glue (Unibonds No more nails glue) and screws. Unfortunately I do not sorry, even if you do manage to cover the lines at the top, you will still the lines where the doors are as they can not be covered or else doors won’t happen :)

You use the wrong bracket, ur unit will not hold and anyone who tries to put weight on it by accident can destroy it. It will likely sag 1-5mm each year. The proper bracket to use is a "London Bracket" where the middle part is curved to prevent any chance of bending from the weight of the cabinet. If your cabinet ever sank, please replace it. I also think your bracket used is a tad small. If you use London Bracket, you could literally sit on it and nothing will happen. I will bet you won't be able to do the same with the existing.
