New subscriber here and also from the STL area. Maybe hinge the section where your passenger seat was at so you can fold that section back and have additional room up front when you aren't sleeping there. @@timg0222 I had the same idea! If I were to do it again I probably would have done a hinge there but it still gives me space to put bags and my tools underneath so I'm happy with it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Tj can't be too diff from a jk. Take the pass seat back off and see how the hinged part works. You can then fig out how to tweak it so it folds flat. We did it.. works great. Drop the seat into a full length bed with lots of headroom. A 12" high storage platform is enough to add slide outs or simple compartments. Would upload a pic if I knew how. 🤔
I have a YJ, what I did is just fit a plywood directly on the floor, the size (width) of a camping mat. This way, you gain some length because your feet will fit under the glove compartment.
