Optional: Homemade Jeweler's Pickle for oxidation. Directions Below.

what do you add into your tumbler when you tumble your hooks?? Also, what kind of Silver Wire, Half Hard? Round, Half Round? Argentium Sterling Silver? Thank you
@ZurickDesigns

I use stainless steel shot, water and a tiny bit of soap. I use dead soft round sterling silver.

Thank you for this demo. Just wondering what options there are if you don’t have a tumbler please?
@ZurickDesigns
@ZurickDesigns 2 года назад
You could use half hard wire and/or hammer them bit with a rawhide mallet to harden them up

Great tut! Can you put silver in the same pickle pot you use for your copper?
@ZurickDesigns
@ZurickDesigns 2 года назад
Great question! I don’t think so. I know you don’t want to introduce iron but just copper and silver should be ok 👍🏻

Thanks for the great video! I'm wondering if the tumbler makes the balls smoother? Sometimes the balls look pitted. I don't have a tumbler but have used one when I did some silversmithing classes. Thanks!
@ZurickDesigns
@ZurickDesigns 3 года назад
I don’t notice them getting smaller. They’re only in the tumbler for an hour or two anyway. I kinda like the pitted look myself. Gives it that “artisan look” I think.

Yes, the tumbler makes them smoother! It only takes my tumbler about 20 minutes! I love it! I tumble all my ear wires, makes them beautiful, and you don't have to file the part that goes into the ear! Also takes out any small nicks that you might have made. Also makes the wire harder!

@@ZurickDesigns I’m not sure, however, I wear copper ear wires.

@@ZurickDesigns pure copper is a low risk allergen, far less people will have a problem with copper than say, stirling silver that contains nickel. I never understood why nickel is commonly used in jewelry, so many people are allergic to it. Now those silver colored copper wires can be a problem because you don't know exactly what is in the silver alloy coating. Should just be tin, but china manufacturers are sneaky 🤷
