You should have dropped the suspension out of the way to install the upper bracket so you could put the self tapping screws in straight instead of angled. When you angled the screws, you made the connection to the frame weaker then it should have been. They may not ever fail, but would have been done much stronger with the bolts put in straight.
Terry Tykoon: Exactly!! After the comment about "We're using an electric impact...cause after all these years, we've got lots of tools...", I was wondering where the short impact socket and impact universal joint were.
Everyone. It appears that Roadmaster has either licensed the Joyrider patents or bought the company outright. The October issue of Trailer Life shows the upgraded JoyRider 2 kit installed with the kit marketed as a product of Roadmaster. Here's a link: www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Suspension/Roadmaster/RM-2460.html Please note that when Joy Rider came out in 2017, the kit pictured in this video was discontinued. The new model has improved hardware for attaching and corrects issues with the earlier 2014 version. Also the Joy Rider 2 is an upgrade that adds an axle alignment feature. Lastly, they are just now bringing to market the Liberty Rider which adds improvements to the suspension spring system. Both Liberty Rider and Joy Rider II can be installed together for optimum ride improvement. Was that just a jack holding up that axle 4:58 and you are directly underneath it? I attended a scene where someone was doing that and the valve let go in the jack crushing him. He suffocated on his own blood. Never, ever get under anything with just a jack holding it up.
Best practice would have been to use new safety nuts in place of OEM nuts or add lock washers to u-bolts after flat washer, and blue locktite to bold threads for extra safety. How did you decide which axle to mount shock kit to? Seems you would want shock kit on both axles not just one axle.
You will need to actually watch the vid again (this time with the sound on) and your question will magically be answered... Spoiler alert: There will be a quiz just after your second viewing... lmao!
