DIY KAYAK MOD CHEAP & QUICK! 

I bought a rudder that looks EXACTLY like that off Amazon, and I meant it for the same purpose you did. Got a kayak and it doesn't track very well, so that when I paddle it does a lot of turning left and right instead of just going straight. It's annoying. And I liked the ability for this to be flipped up and down instead of a glue on skeg, even though those were cheaper. But of course there's no instructions on how to stick it on MY kayak and use it like I intended... Just wanted to say I appreciate your video and it gave me some ideas I hadn't considered. That plastic board you used was very clever. I didn't think of that AT ALL.

Just bought my first kayak the other day, a FeelFree Corona tandem, but also looking to get one for my oldest kid. 8 year old daughter is already wanting one for herself. Total novice myself to all of this but always trying to improve equipment I own and came across this video. Definitely will be falling back on it regardless of what kayak I end up purchasing for her as it just makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the idea and video. Keep them coming!

great idea and I am going to do the same. My kayak does not track well at all. in every other way i like it I just dont like that every time I paddle it goes side to side and if I stop paddling I just immediatly start twisting around. even if this reduced it only a little id be happy. especially for a $20 investment and a few minutes.

Since it doesn't move, isn't it more of a skeg than a rudder?

You gave me an idea for a top mounted modular skeg using the scuper holes and my fishing crate.
