I have added some child sized versions of my knight armor pattern! This video is intended to show the small changes I needed to make when I adapted the pattern to a smaller size. Most of it is just using thinner straps, webbing and elastic. You'll want to watch the adult knight armor tutorial so you can understand the complete build process. All the changes are also written out in the pattern so be sure to refer to that as well.

Thank you! My daughter has been using the battle-axe and shield from your tutorials for the last two years, and she still loves it. It got her into history, Norse mythology and she is even attempting to learn to read runes. She is now 8, and the foam weaponry is still her favourite possession.

Amazing work, as you usually do. It really looks comfortable for a kid. And hey, it really works as armor, if you think about it. If children fall, better to have then covered in foam! Your kids must be a very happy ones, and it shows, congratulations :D

Children have no restraint, thus making them perfect to stress test it :P Seriously I am glad to see you continuing to update and work on this pattern/costume. I definitely want to see more and more. Like maybe it would be possible to make the back side a little prettier. The front looks amazing but the back looks a bit barren

Good point, I originally made the back sparse to allow for easy sitting, but it would be good to add more options for the back as well.

This is fantastic, as are ALL of your designs. I made the mechanical arm for my husband, with the craft foam. I have used your tall top hat pattern to make a hat for myself, and and mini top hat pattern to make several hats for the teddy bears I make. I used a different construction method for the hats (with fabric and cardstock) but the pattern design worrked perfectly. I was pretty proud of the knight costume I made my son 18 years ago, and he loved it, but this--- this would have had us both on cloud nine! Your daughter is the cutest little knight ever!

Best of luck!! I'd recommend fully completing the breastplate and backplate first to get an idea of how long it will take, that way if you run out of time, you'll have the most important parts ready to go.

My friend made A hot pink Darth Vader suit for His 8 year old daughter. Hope my suggestion Doesn't offend you, but I just wanted To give you some tips on how to keep your child IN!!! the costume. These are a couple of things that he had to deal with. 1st make sure that it's not too hot, and 2nd make sure that there's no scratchy things inside of the costume. If the child is comfortable they will keep the suit on. If they don't like it they will make sure that they're out of that costume as quickly as possible

Yes!! Great comment, it can be so easy to get into making an awesome build, we forget about the fact that someone has to wear it:) My daughter is notorious for being uncomfortable in certain clothes, so I was really happy she seemed O.K. in the costume. It was a bit warm though out on a 30 degree Celsius day:)

What do you paint on the seal in the color's?

To be honest, I've tried lots of things and haven't found anything I totally love yet. So far I like the primer from Plaid FX paint line, because it is made to be flexible. Also, if it's only going to be worn once or twice, you really don't need to seal it. Acrylic paints are waterproof when they are dry.

It really depends on your ability to follow instructions and a bit of hand eye coordination. I've seen first time crafters pull off amazingly good work with my patterns....I've also seen people who I thought would be quite capable end up with a mess of hot glue and foam:)
