The fumes from a laser engraver can be very strong. I build an adjustable window pass through vent with the Xtool D1 Pro laser. For this window vent I use 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood. The tabs are glued together with wood glue. The ortur enclosure has an 83mm tube for the vent.

This was a good first test of a window pass through. Probably could use more work. Thanks for watching!

Thank you, nice idea in theory! I'm making mine out of acrylic for weatherproofing. Also +1 on the bug screen / dryer vent louver. I also built a shop for my laser and made the mistake of not heating it. Flipped the laser on one cold winter day, not thinking that I'd be launching a small chunk of ice into the glass tube and shattering it!! Partially frozen chiller water = no bueno.. Lol, hope yours is heated!

Clever design. Ideas? yes, one: if you make the legs of the sliding half-circle part a lot longer, you could put the guides on the inside of the legs, that way the slider and the part it slides into would be the same height.

Thats a good idea. When I revisit this pass through idea I can try that.

don't forget to put a chunk of screen door screen over the end of the hose or the bugs will just use it to come in.

Very good point. I guess my initial idea was that I would only place the tube out the window as needed and while the machine was on. But a screen over the end is very important when the hose is left in.

That's a very creative design! I've seen many other laser owners in groups online ask about solutions just like this. So many are in rented spaces or in areas where boring a 3"-6" hole through a wall simply isn't an option. This is a great showing of how to use the tool to make a solution!

Good point! Renters might lose that deposit after drilling a 6" hole in the wall.

I get the DIY aspect. But why not just buy an exhaust kit used for portable AC units?

This was just a fun project to help learn laser work. An AC unit exhaust kit works well.

I've seen you cutting a lot of holes in walls. I'm surprised you'd bother with the window passthru instead of simply cutting a hole in the wall and putting in an exhaust vent.

Coming up soon I will be building a 20x30 shop. This new shop will have a dedicated laser room. That space will have a hole in the wall for the exhaust. I did not want to drill a hole in the old shop when the laser will be moving soon.

Thank you. I need to make a few adjustments to this before it's ready to go. Currently I am building a 20x30 studio for all my laser projects.

Nothing better than swapping back and forth between metric and imperial. "looks like this side is 6mm and that side is 1/4" inch" haha
